TIPPERARY ALL-IRELAND winning minor football manager David Power is set to become Aidan O’Brien’s senior football successor as the new Wexford senior football boss.
The Wexford football advisory committee have recommended Power to fill role and his appointment is now subject to ratification by the Wexford county board. If approved the Kilsheelan-Kilcash clubman will become the youngest manager in inter-county football as things currently stand.
The 31-year-old guided Tipperary to a memorable All-Ireland minor final victory over Dublin in 2011 as they claimed a famous 3-9 to 1-14 success. He followed that up in 2012 by steering Tipperary to a second successive Munster minor football title.
For the last two years Power has overseen the fortunes of the Tipperary U21 footballers. They reached the Munster final last year and this year but fell short against Cork on both occasions.
