The Glazer family have lost patience with the beleaguered Scot after a disastrous first term in charge.
“It is understood that the plan now is to sack Moyes at the end of the season but the situation could now come to a head later on Monday or in the coming days. If the former Everton boss is sacked before the season’s end, club legend Ryan Giggs will be asked to take over team affairs,” writes Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail.
United will not play Champions League next season and are already guaranteed their lowest ever Premier League points total. They were crowned champions last year with 11 points to spare.
“The 50-year-old’s reign could end before Saturday’s Old Trafford encounter with Norwich City if he chooses to seek assurances over his future which executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is unlikely to be able to offer,” writes The Telegraph‘s Mark Ogden.
What is the point sacking Moyes and getting Giggs to take over with only a few games left? At least leave the man a bit of dignity and let him see out the season. If they want to make a change then, fair enough.
Well to be honest Wolf Pack – what has his dignity got to do with it? He has left precious little dignity for the club this season.
Sacking him now might give the squad a lift – they clearly don’t want to play for him. They may just improve over the next couple of games. Not that it matters now.
Plus there is the share price to consider. They cannot really afford to lose more games (and they will) and may need to show a willingness tot take action from a business point of view.
Well Felix, I actually think dignity has a lot to do with it. Things have not worked out for Moyes this season, no doubt. But I do believe he is a good footballing man that, at this late stage deserved to get the full year.
And what lift will it give the squad? Get them to 6th instead of 7th? In my opinion parts of that squad have been nothin short of a disgrace this year. I think they knew Moyes was always going to be the fall guy and used it as a crutch.
And is having an interm manager with no previous experience really going to save the share price as you say?
United had the same manager for over two decades. Now they will have three in one year and I disagree with that.
According to YOU dignity might have a lot to do with it. Not to the United board though who have a billion dollar empire to run.
Good footballing men get shafted all the time – at United, most recently, Moyes shafted Ferguson’s coaching staff. How did that work out for him?
The lift it MAY give the squad is to get them playing in the right way. The problem Moyes had had and United have is NOT where they finish in the table. It is the fact that PERFORMANCES have been DREADFUL. Neville said it many many times this season – You can lose matches, but NEVER be dull.
Everton yesterday was ABJECT. Two shots on target in 90 minutes with 61% possession.
They may get from 6th to seventh. They may not. But the lift it might give the squad is that they play better football and right now THAT is what matters.
First of all Felix putting various words in capital letters doesn’t actually increase the weight of your argument!
Secondly if the Glazers are so worried about their billion dollar business should they not sack the entire board and indeed Ferguson in particular who was soley responsible for making such a terrible decision? Or should he be cut some slack?
There will be a media circus when Moyes is sacked before the season ends, all negative publicity highlighting how far United have fallen…and all for what? To appoint an interm who himself will be replaced anyway.
Wolf pack thats a great point, i think the same thing happened with the Ireland team with Trap, they knew the front cover of The Herald would be of Trap shaking his head
As I cannot use italics I must use capitals. I think you’ll find that, according to conventional writing rules, altering the stylisation of specific words DOES denote emphasis – specifically the use of italics.
Sacking Moyes for 9 months of dreadful performances and a failure to improve the team is reasonable. Sacking the Board or Ferguson for one poor decision is not. Grow up.
There is no hiding how far United have fallen. The entire world is well aware of it. Sacking Moyes won’t make the world any more aware of it – whatever the headlines. And lets face it – those headlines are all going to be “United Board make inevitable, unavoidable decision”.
Of course they have to appoint an interim. The only other option is to appoint no one. Maybe Evra could pick himself up front?
At this point there is no real downside to sacking him. Certainly not compared to sacking him in 4 weeks.
Football is cruel, spend 10-15 years proving yourself and amassing credit, 9 months later you are a figure of fun, ridiculed and preparing to be sacked.
Insofar as you can feel sorry for a guy about to get a few million for being sacked I feel sorry for Moyes.
Wild Rover don’t jump on the band wagon mate… Moyes is a mid table manager , simples, look where Everton are without him??? very little difference in both teams from last season… Murphy made a very good point on MOTD last night… Why was Valencia , the fastest footballer in the world on the bench, when pace was needed…. Just not the guy for united.
As usual the truth lies somewhere in between. This is an ageing, poorly developed squad with a real lack of top tier quality. Ferguson abdicated building responsibilities during his last few years.
Moyes on the other hand has been a disgrace from the moment he arrived. There has not been one single laudable action he has taken – from pandering to Rooney, to failing to inspire his players, to meek acceptance of failure and his embarrassing press statements, never mind the shoddy transfer business – he has been a joke.
Moyes only has himself to blame for failing to make the best of a poor United squad.
But there were serious problems with the squad when he arrived.
@wildrover His departure came about due to the death of his wife’s sister. Still find it amazing how many people buy into this ‘Fergie jumped because of an ageing squad’ tripe.
United have an aging defence. About to lose 2 of their more experienced players. A midfield lacking imagination. A midfield with a 40 year old in it and one that Scholes dominated last year.
They fell quicker than would have been expected though. New manager will be following Moyes not Ferguson so much less pressure.
Fergie new how to win the league without him that team is an arverage team and this season has proved that your doing the same job for 27 years you know how its to be done utd are done they will never rule the EPL again the way they have the utd way went with fergie cos it was fergie way
Last year’s league was one of the worst in the leagues history. Holding up this team as having won it by eleven points is no fantastical achievement. Anyone with two eyeballs can see that the squad is in a dilapidated state and you could barely choose some of them that would make it into any of the top 4s starting eleven. The current state of United is down to one man and the board that supported him. Not moyes
United won the title last season because of Ferguson. That squad would not have won the title under a different manager (look how what is largely the same squad has done this year without Fergie).
The current state of United is not down to “one man” but a variety of players.
The Owners for failing to invest top dollar for top players
The Board for not planning for Fergusons retirement
Ferguson for ignoring crisis level issues in the squad, transfer, scouting and youth development systems.
Moyes for his truly abject and lamentable management this season.
The players – for totally failing to be professional and work for a manager they did not respect.
@Dave O’Shea, that is what everyone is saying, do u think someone else hasn’t thought of the possibility that Moyes is the problem, you are on the bandwagon that has been going since he got the job!
John Deane: ‘Dont worry Liverpool fans i wouldnt get my hopes up finishing above United this season because its not going to happen.’
Conor Counihan: ‘I’m loving all the LFC fans on here writing Moyes off. He’s made Everton the best team on Merseyside now. The league table never lies :)’
Martin Jones nails it: ‘They be lucky to get a top four finish. Moyes has never won a trophy and don’t wont change next season, very average squad’
As was Jamie McCormack: ‘I’d say Liverpool will finish higher than Utd next year’
to which B7584 responded: ‘Come down off whatever drugs youre on.’ – the Rodgers drug baby!
And finally Sean Kelleher, hats off Sean!: ‘Cant wait to see United in mid table at the end of the season with no champions league spot, no prem title and Moyes been shown the road’
I’m sorry he spent 11 years at Everton and won NOTHING ! They only managed a champions league qualifier ONCE ! He was never the right man for United and I’m glad he’s going
Kept Everton near the top 4 all the time, just what Martinez is doing and with hardly any money, imagine what he can do with money! if it’s not announced tomorrow or this week it won’t happen and I’ll be glad as I know he will get it right
Ageing squad? Really have another look at the whole squad
Jones, januzai, mata, smalling, Rooney, DeGea, nani, kagawa, welbeck, Hernandez, Evans …, all in their twenties….
Ferguson perhaps didn’t ignore the crisis… Simply knew he was moving on and left it for a new manager to build….. Moyes can’t attract big names. If taking what Everton has is his ambition, it tells of his ability…..,
The pain will be felt most in that place where the ordination of Moyes by Ferguson was born and nurtured, the terraces of Ibrox. This will be hard to take and even harder when Lennon comes to take over. Ha.
From the same people who say the league is weak because Liverpool is on top…. But then that makes Man U even worse, right? But they will be back, by some divine intervention….
They’ll NEVER get a manager in who can start winning leagues from the start. Look at Ferguson’s first few years:
86-87 – 11th place
87-88 – 2nd place
88-89 – 11th place
89-90 – 13th place. (won FA cup.)
90-91 – 6th (Cup winners cup)
91-92 – 2nd (League Cup)
92-93 – finally won. Only took the (apparently) greatest manager 7 seasons to get there. Fire Moyes now & I guarantee the fans will be looking for the next poor sod to be sacked this time next year too.
Matt, you are bang on, but the problem these days is the lure of Champions League money….. It dictates everything, forecasts are based on them…. The Glazers know, with the debt situation on Man U, that to make money, they need CL. Also, do sponsors also have a clause that includes CL as a necessity? As soon as Liverpool were out of CL, Adidas bailed….. Its a cutthroat business world more than a sport now.
“It hurts” your havin a laugh try watchin your greatest rivals collect the title 13 times since your last one now thats hurts. we can take a year or two off mate enjoy it ive certainly enjoyed the last 20 years.
Yes it did, but old enough to remember our dominance before that, but if you come out with Loserfool, then you assuming Man U will be back because of a divine right or something? Give me a break, you think the other clubs will stand still out of sympathy for Man U??? Many of you Man U fans do not remember your lean years…. humility will make you a better fan, or there’s a bandwagon once in a while passing by…..
I think it’s disgusting what the Man U fans are doing to DM,he left a top side to come to you lot of chancers and he has been betrayed by fans and players alike, totally classless it’s a long way back from here.
Sarah Jane, Please just stay Quite, He is right, United have a bunch of useless players in that squad that wouldn’t get a game for a championship side. The past is the past, United need a complete overhaul, 5 or 6 players in that team need to be shown the Door, if not more.
Everyone except United capitulated last year. Same again this year only Liverpool have showed such form.
United are poor.
In fairness to Liverpool they have kept up an amazing run. Hopefully Chelsea will go out if Europe but beat Liverpool to keep it interesting for Irish people. La Liga also very exciting.
@Sarah
Quality?
Not a single player from their current squad would start at Liverpool or City, van Persie and maybe Rooney would get a spot at Chelsea! The rest is utter rubbish! Without the 40 year old Giggs and the mid-thirties Evra and Ferdinand they would have ended up even further down the table!
Utd wasn’t that short of quality since the early 80′s and it will take a hell of a lot more than a new managers and a couple of big name signings in the summer to make them winning trophy a again!
That’s the truth and as a Liverpool supporter I am thoroughly enjoying every second of it!
YNWA
Yes. Of course you’re right. CATEGORICALLY and TOTALLY right.
I take it all back. The players had NOTHING to do with their performances. They certainly behaved like innocent bystanders.
In fact, those matches never happened, did they? Nobody cheered at RVP’s hat-trick. And the only matches that happened are the abject defeats you remember. A real fan here. Jeez…
Because man utd fans never slagged anybody during their years of dominance? Come on lads u have to accept your bit of slagging, u had it good for 2decades
Liverpool fan here, I’d love Moyes to stay for obvious reasons! But if I were a United supporter, I’d like to see him gone, simply because I don’t like his style. Everton are a much nicer team to watch under Martinez than they were under Moyes, and his line ups this year and tactics have been baffling at times!
Young, Smalling, Ferdinand, Nani, Fellaini are examples of those that have to be shown the door because they are not good enough.
Keep Rooney, because he’s the club’s leader, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher, Kagawa, Valencia, Buttner (who has actually impressed since he was ACTUALLY given game time), Van Persie, Jones (I think he’s had better seasons but this isn’t one of them), Mata and Hernandez.
Is Rooney really going to deliver enough to justify his outrageous wage bill? He should defo be sold this summer while he’s still worth a penny. Hernandez looks far more dangerous this season and surely should be given a fair chance.
Rooney should never have been kept. The very VERY last thing he is is a leader. He is absolutely NOT a leader. When the chips were down under Ferguson he threw his toys out of the pram twice and asked for transfers.
He is nowhere near the best player in the UK and not worth 300k per week. Thats a joke. Thats Ronaldo, Messi money and he isnt even close to them. His performance against Everton was once again lamentable.
Moyes should have sold him.
Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Fletcher, Vale have to go along with Young, Nani, Rio, Giggs and Vidic.
Spot on Felix. He has created uncertainty about his future more than once, ending in massive wage increases (to the point of farce) each time. He should be moved on, PSG possibly the only club mad enough to pay those wages.
I was certain CERTAIN he would leave this summer. Why on earth would you sign a new contract with United doing so badly?
Then Moyes bottled it by offering him 300k, a say in transfers, a future “ambassador’s role” and the Captaincy. I mean for **** sake. What a cowardly little worm Moyes became.
People think because he runs around a lot he’s a captain. Hell give me 300k a week and a professional fitness coach training me every day – I’ll Captain them.
Everton yesterday is a perfect example. Team losing. Chips down. CL qualification hanging in the balance. A leader, a figurehead a truly inspirational character – someone ACTUALLY WORTH 300k a week would have come up with something. As Keane did. As Cantona did. As Giggs did. As Robson did.
In fairness to him, he flapped his arms and put in a few dirty tackles too. Is anybody really worth 300,000 a week? Its an insane amount of money to be paying an athlete, EVERY week for flip sake.
Giggs will probably retire and I agree with the players listed above. I rated Mata, Hernandez, Valencia, Kagawa, Buttner and a fit Van Persie. I don’t think Wellbeck or Rooney did enough to make the team work. They probably need to start from scratch with players who play with passion and pride not an idle bunch who want more money than they are worth!
Absolutely – a courageous man would have realised he needed to make the team his own and quickly. That would mean binning the Ferguson core – Rooney, Evra. Carrick, Rio, Vidic.
Giving Nani a new five year contract and Rooney a 300k a week contract was pure cowardice.
Slippery slope. The man was entitled to at least a second season, I think united are gonna recycle managers lyk mad the next few years. Bad bad decision
Let David Moyes see out his 6 year contract . He can only improve ,
well he cant get much F**king worse.
David will always be known as Alex Ferguson last signing…
As I stated above Banking Moyes has been a disaster. Everything (visible) that he has done has been a joke.
But there is no denying that the club was adrift. That squad badly needed a complete overhaul. No midfielders, poor wingers, and an ageing defence.
Moyes inherited a poor squad by United standards. But he made an absolute mess of what he had. Martinez and Rodgers have shown what can be achieved with positivity, attacking football and good tactics and training.
The current United squad is not, arguably, top 4 when you consider the investments of Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs and Pool and the play of Everton and Pool. Are they as bad as 7th? Possibly.
It is not the end result that matters – it is the dreadful dreadful performances and total lack of improvement. And the inescapable conclusion that Moyes has no idea how to change it all.
Martinez is reaping the rewards of moyes good work over the last 11 years at Everton …moyes is reaping the reward of fergusons lack of work in rebuilding over the last 3-4 years at utd. He has had no time to rebuild the squad. Hard not to have some sympathy for him.
But it cannot be convincingly argued that Everton’s squad is significantly better than Uniteds. Moyes got a poor United squad – but he managed it dreadfully and the way they have been playing is disgusting. That’s down to him.
Martinez and Rodgers have shown what can be achieved playing fast positive attacking ball even with a limited squad and Moyes should take note.
I agree with a lot of what you say felix but moyes did get Everton to fifth spot in his time. Next year will be a big year for Martinez after starting so well and when he puts more of his own stamp on the club. The total lack of respect for Moyes from the senior players at Utd did I think have an awful lot more to do with the awful season than people realise.
Let’s be honest. Moyes didn’t suit united, the same way hodgeson didn’t suit Liverpool. He has to be sacked, the players are not playing for him and look like they couldn’t be bothered. The difference with Rodgers last year is Liverpool started improving from Christmas 2012 on. United look clueless since Moyes took over and haven’t gotten any better since. The hangover from red nose can’t explain it all. United wi be back but I doubt it wi be next year, too many gaps to fill. 2016 maybe.
I think he should be let stay and put his own stamp on the team. I’m old enough to remember when Ferguson was on the verge of being sacked but they stuck with him and look how that turned out
There are no bloody midfielders at the club. There haven’t been for 6 years. Their CL winning defence is now all over 32. Smalling & Jones are decent but they haven;t developed the way they’d hoped. And their isn’t a single leader in the whole damn side.
Not to mention the fact there isn’t a single world class player bar RVP in there and he’s 30 and has been injured.
Felix if you’d read the thread you’d see I was talking about what A F inherited through the youth system. Beckham, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles, Sharpe etc. My whole point was that Fergie didn’t have a great record in the transfer market.
For every Ronaldo or Keane there was a half a dozen Djemba Djembas. Had he ( Fergie ) not had those youth players coming through he wouldn’t have had the time at United he did.
I hope he does and then Daniel levy has the common sense so offer him a contract. He is just what spurs are looking. I know he took over a title winning team but that was a poor team managed by the greateat manager of all time who had an amazing ability to pull results out of the fire. Its a miracle they won the league last year and everyone else was poor.
He did though bring Dortmund back form nowhere, didn’t he? If somehow, he said “I’ll bring this to United”, provided they offered him big money maybe they’d be more fortunate. But I can’t see that happening, to be fair.
Because any good players he has bayern will always get . Which means he wont have a team strong enough to challenge bayern in bundesliga for at least 5 years .. Also no realistic chance of winning the champions league .. A move to united would give him a fresh challenge to rebuild a team that wont have there best players taken from them every year .. And a realistic chance of winning the premier league in a year or two .
As a Man U fan 34 years it always makes me laugh when I see other supporters especially liverpool fans put the boot in. Any manager following ferguson was in for a tough job, Moyes plus players performances added to the results. The players have to be accountable. A good clear out and give Moyes until xmas. Building a good team takes time and patience, I’d rather not see a revolving door of managers. It won’t take us 25 years to win the league again unlike some…..I’m not a bitter fan I’m glad to see Gerard’s loyalty rewarded and the title win would be a great tribute to the hillsborough tragedy
You’d think the Liverpool fans here would show some empathy with Utd, didn’t you endure some crap managers like Hodgson, Benitez and Dalglish?
We’ll see how adept Rodgers is next season when he also has the champions league to contest.
Wow….. then Man U get a good Manager only once every 25 years…. Busby…. then mediocrity…. then Fergie….. after that 25 more years mediocrity….. already started….. using your formula….
You’re babbling there Graham, an incoherent babble but that’s to be expected.
Most Liverpool fans still maintain Dalglish was a great manager yet facts don’t back that comforting delusion.
3 leagues, Double in first year, as player manger…. won league again at Blackburn, and you lot thought Moyes was the ‘chosen one’?????? Tell me who is delusional….FACT!
You’re basing your diatribes on the assumption that I’m a united fan. ..I’m not and you’re attaching your deluded devotion to Dalglish when he was playing and manager of a completely different team.
Your hormones must be all over the place.
And yet the gentlemanly united fans were singing “justice for the 39″ at the game yesterday instead of cheering on their team when they most needed it…so who’s bitter and twisted?????
The tribal behaviour of (a lot) Liverpool fans throughout the years was always in bad taste and always gave me the generic impression that they are sore losers. The defacing of that wall in Cabra was to be expected.
Football fans are just people, every club in the world has a minority of thugs masking themselves as fans and looking to upset. Its important not to think that a minority of idiots represent the majority. I don’t think that the United “fans” who sang “justice for the 39″ yesterday are in any way representative of the club or its values. Football rivalry is essentially tribal affiliation filled with tribal prejudice , always has been.
Can we just enjoy the game, without the endless stereotyping, pretty please?
If you actually looked it up, you will know you talk total bollixs. Where is the condemnation from Man U on that Banner then? Even Fergie told his fans to let it go…..
Not sure if that comment is for myself or Paul, Graham.
Did not read that correct, but see it now, you were asking me the question. It was to Paul, but you answered it well enough…. no need for it from so called real fans…. too many tragedies have happened….. let it go…..
Yeah, like the light bulb joke…. hilarious, even after 2 million times…. wow, learn to take stick…. Worse than Moyes…. you have years of success and know nothing else….. its going to hit you lot hard…… the ones who remember before Fergie, respect is due….. keep supporting your team….
Right decision. He was never the right man for the job.
There is quality in his current squad, his handling of the press has been embarrasing for United, no big game mentality, no tactics.
It made no sense to give a 6 year contract to someone who has never won anything in football. Especially when you consider the other top managers that were available at the time or could have been gotten for a fee.
This season has gone worse than anyone could have realistically imagined. Time to go David.
The 6 year contract made perfect sense if the Board wanted stability, long term planning and a manager who was going to develop sustained success. Rodgers and Martinez haven’t won anything either – that is not to say that they can’t. Previous record is not a perfect yardstick to judge by.
The Board could not have anticipated how poor he would be though.
The 6 year contract made perfect sense given what the Board were looking for.
The only other Manager confirmed as available and actually interested in the job was Mourinho. The Board never wanted him and rightly so.
Martinez actually won an FA Cup. And besides, Rodgers and Martinez are also relatievely young managers. David Moyes has been around for about 15 years and only once reached a cup final!
Why didnt they give Moyes a 2/3 year contract in case it backfired like this?
The stability argument makes no sense although the board meant well and it was a statement of intent.
Previous performance may not be a perfect measure but David Moyes had no noteworthy achievements in football – there was no suggestion that he was up to this job – and low and behold he has completely floundered in the position.
They didn’t give him a 2/3 year contract because they were convinced he could build something that would last. It was an extraordinary show of faith and a statement that they were in it for the long haul with Moyes. I also guess it was a way of showing stability to the stock market given the turbulence after SAF retirement.
The stability argument makes perfect sense. There was a recognition that the squad wasn’t great – as stated many times by Woodward and others. That takes time to overhaul.
Moyes may not have won anything. So what? The Board weren’t looking for a manager with a winning track record. Otherwise they could have hired Mourinho.
They wanted manager who would start a project and see it through, hard working, determined, a reasonable track record with buying players on a budget, a reasonable track record of bringing through youth players and someone who avoided controversy with the press.
Anyone who says “He has no track record of achievement” is assuming that that was a relevant criteria. They are wrong. It clearly wasn’t. If it was – they would have hired someone else.
Liverpool fan here not gonna put the boot in.Fergie left him a load of dirt .I reckon he’s just to far out of his depth. The task is 2 big for him he’s not a bad manager just not good enuff to sort out that mess.I wouldn’t trust him with 150 million
Couldn’t get better conditions? Bit naive Banking. Bit naive.
United haven’t developed a youth player of quality in years, they have no midfield, no quality wingers, they haven’e been able to find replacements for Giggs & Scholes in a decade, they keep buying players to play in Rooney’s position, they keep pandering to Rooney and they can’t attract world class talent from Europe…
There was a MAJOR job of work to be done at United. SAF left the place in a bit of a state.
That’s not excusing Moyes who has been disgraceful, but it wasn’t as easy a job as everyone imagines.
Its a financially secure club, that was going through its most succesful era. World class facilities, huge support and a board that supports the manager and gives them the necessary funds to compete.
Yes there is the issue with the central midfield and inconsistent wingers, but they still walked the league last year. Surely they are better than 7th!
I’d like you to name one English club with better circumstances.
I need to clarify that. Although United have routinely bought the top players available in the the Premier League – Keane, Cole, Yorke, Cantona, Ferdinand, Rooney, RVP they have almost never been able to sign established world class talent from Europe.
Fabregas last summer is a perfect example.
I do not include Mata because a) whether he will be able to find his Chelsea form is a matter of some dispute and b) with a world cup in the summer he was DESPERATE to play ANYWHERE. United were desperate for a marquee signing irrespective of the fact that they already had three players playing in his position.
The league win last year is totally irrelevant. This is not the same league. Chelsea/City/Spurs all spent close to 100m. They brought in new, superior managers. Arsenal spent 46m on one of the best players in Europe. It is NOT the same league so to say “We won it last year” is missing the point.
The defence was decrepid. The midfield is non existent. The wingers are bang average.
Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all in better shape right now. Not just in terms of the strength of their squads but also in their approach to identifying and signing players. The same could be said of Spurs though there management structure seems all over the place. Liverpool certainly seem to have made excellent strides and Coutinho and Sturridge have been wonderful, affordable signings while Suarez was secured without CL football to attract him.
It certainly seems now that he was never up to the job. Perfect hindsight and all that. I think he has only himself to blame for not manning up and taking the fight to the League rather thank meekly wimping out. That’s something that will haunt him I’d wager. I don’t blame the Board for the appointment however. It seemed sensible at the time.
But my point is that 7th isn’t that shocking. Once that transfer window slammed shut in September with no overhaul he was up against it. I said at the start of the season we wouldn’t make the CL. We didn’t have the quality. For me it’s a slip, not from 1st to 7th, but from 5th to 7th. I expected 5th. We are in 7th.
The problem is not where we finish in the league. The problem is how we have approached it and how we have played. This has been sickening to watch. And it hasn’t improved. Not even remotely.
To be fair to Moyes he could not have anticipated Fellaini’s failure. He was at least as good as anything at United on Everton form. But he wilted in the light of OT. As many have before.
He’s spent about £70m and is sitting six places below last season’s position and is in a league where the top team can’t defend and the second team has no strikers. So yeah, he probably has not done the best job…
Michelle, you make a good point, but Man U fans have been swinging the boot for the last 25 years, this is the first time in a long time ‘pool have had the upper hand. They have not won the league, very very close, but you would expect this…. I remember the comments when Liverpool were teetering on administration, some very funny, but a lot of hoping they went down…. Many Man U fans grown up under success, like me when I was a kid….. Know both ends of the stick now….. You are entitled to nothing in football, if Man U do not steady the ship soon, it becomes even harder. Liverpool are a world class brand, but without CL, hard to get the best….. Will happen to Man U too…. The landscape has changed for all…..
It’s a business to yanks!loosing profit in stocks no money champions league etc
Zero loyalty,I’m utd fan obviously we had poor season & wasn’t too happy about moyes tactics & method of play but I feel u should give him another crack at least another yr & then fully judge?
Very average squad this year, Moyes deserves a second season, before anyone says they won the league by 11pts last season how many wins last seasob were thanks to RVP rescuing utd over and over again, give him a chance
Of course he needs to be managed carefully, i’m sure he was, you’d presume theres an abundance of physios and fitness coaches advising how RVP should be handled, doubt its moyes ordering laps to be fair, he spent plenty times on the sidelines at arsenal too, lethal when fit just injury prone unfortunately! Not fair on moyes to take all the slack, plenty of players to blame who went hiding this year. Give the man time, he’s earned a chance to put his own stamp on this team (fellaini aside obviously, at least he’s dropped him recently for kagawa!)
RVP said it himself during the season Cian that his training has been changed. Obviously he wasn’t managed properly. He’s been injured far too often for that. That’s the point.
Look at Arsenal’s track record with injuries. I’m sure they have lots of physios etc but they cannot keep players fit. Just having expertise on the books doesn’t guarantee results.
RVP comes to Ferguson – largely injury free season. Moyes takes over, RVP complains about his training and……look what happens.
Moyes earned the chance to manage team a year ago. He didn’t take it. In fact he blew it. And as a result he is likely getting the sack.
I am all for giving a manager time btu every single decision he has made with this, admittedly poor squad, has been disgusting:
Press conferences: A Joke. “We really enjoyed playing in the CL” “We’ll try and win next week”
Signings: 24m for Fellaini release clause. Nah – hell with that, give them 27m. Rooney – 300k AND the captaincy.
Tactics: Non existent. 82 crosses against Fulham.
Attacking ball: Non existent. 2 shots on target against Fulham
I haven’t seen a single positive aspect of his management all season. He has EARNED his sacking Cian.
Fitness coaches were labelling Moyes a dinasour in preseason for the crazy fitness routine he was putting RVP through, including double running sessions, as he felt RVP wasn’t fit enough…
And that was before he started getting injured. Moyes is clueless.
The fact is that Ferguson was worth about 20 points a season to United. United were always gonna suffer after he left but I don’t think anyone expected them to be as bad as they are. It just proves that he got far more out of his playing staff than anyone else. Moyes is obviously feeling the pressure and it’s rubbing off on the team. It’s a shame but he just isn’t up to a job as big as Managing Man United.
It’s a tough one but ultimately the correct decision I think. I like Moyse, he seems like a good bloke, but he was out of his depth. Yes he inherited a team of mostly has beens or never weres. With only Rooney and RVP anywhere near world class, but he failed to get the best out of them like Fergie had done.
He paid over the odds for Side show Bob and bought a decent player in Mata but played him out of position most of the time.
Plus he failed to attract big names last summer, that was a lot to do with him not having a big name in football. You only have to look at Everton and Liverpool to see what a good coach looks like. United’s style was one dimensional and predictable. Who will replace him I wonder.
I can’t believe the supporters of United. Just recall their situation before Ferguson managed to get them going. They are fickle and need to learn the true meaning of team support from Liverpool supporters.
If he does get the sack then i’ll feel sorry for him.He inherited a very average group of players and has the fergie legacy hanging over him.Everytime utd had a poor result the tv cameras went straight to ferguson so moyes is still in his shadow.I think he deserves time to put his own stamp on the team but given the fact that most of utd fans know nothing except success he will always be under huge pressure to deliver
To be honest, this may sound crazy, but if he did get the full amount, then that’d surely hurt the Glazers which is a good thing because they don’t give two tosses about the club! At least then they wouldn’t make more money than they already have!
Les, either they make a clean break and completely new background staff, or from within, Giggs, maybe…. wonder if Gary Neville would come back, he knows his stuff….
Because one way or the other everybody cares about Manchester United. It’s the reason the news when confirmed will be front page headlines and not just back page news.
Any time a manager gets sacked its headline news on sky sports. If someone twists their ankle it’s headline news on sky sports. Nothing special or earth shaking about this story so yes. Arrogance
As someone said above, its a slippery slope, thought he would get till xmas, the bigger egos and names (that are probably undermining him) in the dressing room will be gone this year aswell. The managerial merry go round is not something Utd fans will be used to. Van Gaal is a manager who moves a around lot and is in his 60′s. Mourinho would have been a bad choice. Klopp is probably the best bet, but will he move? Well Utd fans, all I can say is welcome to the world a lot of other fans have been used to for the last 25 years.
United only won de league last year because van persie carried the team. They had scholes who could control the tempo of a game.. plus Liverpool, chelsea and man city are alot better this year!!
Man Utd don’t have a good squad. If you were picking the team of the season 6 or 7 years ago, probably half of them would have been Man U players. This season, they’ll struggle to get 1 player into the team of the season.
It’s pretty much the same squad as last season. And 4 of them (DeGea, Ferdinand, Carrick, Van Persie) 5 if you include Juan Mata were in the PFA team of the season last season.
I have always said Moyes is a mid table manager, you only have to look at what Martinez has done at Everton in the same length of time. Get Moyes out now, as previously said yes we want new players, but you won’t get the best going on his running.
As a man utd fan i feel sorry for moyes, if fabergas or bale joined i think utd would be in top 4, van persie has been injured, rooneys form is always hot and cold, need to get rid of heartless nani, cleverly, kagawa, flethcher, i also think ferdinand and evra should go their own terms, great players. Moyee two signings have been strange, fellani is best up front but never plays there and mata is best at number 10 and not good enough to take rooney out if team, all in all i think its time for him to go with comments like we played well in first half against everton and being 2 nil down!
The sad thing is, Moyes does seem like a likeable guy, and his record with Everton suggested he did have strength and guile. Makes you wonder if there were other factors this year, is there a power struggle within United???
United only won de league last year because van persie carried the team. They had scholes who could control a game!! And Liverpool, chelsea and man city are alot better this year! !
Utd players played for alex ferguson not man utd it would appear.moyes will be the scapegoat for a team that fotgot the basics over night.moyes can only pick the team when they cross onto the pitch they should give maximum effort and be professional.utd played to that level twice in the 2 games against munich.utd players should be ashamed if moyes gets sacked.shame on them indeed.
A total simplification Benny as the likes of Martinez and Rodgers have shown. Managers can have a huge impact on a squad of decent players if they approach the game in the right way. Pool have one truly world class player, and a couple of excellent players followed by a fairly decent albeit thin squad. Look at the brilliant football they have been playing and 5 points clear at the top. Is their squad better than United’s?
Look at Everton’s approach. Look at the match yesterday.
Yes United’s players have been appalling and unprofessional. But it is up to the manager to get the best out of them and he has completely failed to do that.
I would agree to a certain extent with what you are saying.moyes has been foundout tactically.i think he made a big mistake by releasing the utd coaching staff straight away.they had the inside info on how the players trained both individually and collectively.i can see utd going through managers like chelsea did.
He shouldn’t have taken the job, his teams play a negative style of football and that doesn’t cut it at old Trafford. Wrong man for the job not his fault
Always doubted Moyes for the job. Nice guy, down to earth but not what’s needed to manage MUFC. For sure the squad was past it when he took it over but bringing in Fellaini was the first disaster. A typical mid table player, not going to bother Bayern, Real or Barca. Moyes has to go as I can’t see him winning the dressing room back after this media coverage. Klopp would be great but he recently committed to Dortmund and he seems to enjoy it there.
Right so it looks like he is going and being perfectly honest I would suggest it is not only because he failed to qualify for the Champions League (his bottom line) but throughout the season it appeared to me that he doesen’t have the gravitas required to be a Manchester United manager and this became obvious to the players at a very early stage, the very same players who played out of their skin for Sir Alex only one year previously. Edward Woodward needs to attract a top manager and provide him with the necessary funds to sort out central defence and midfield.
The post game interviews have been the worst…..apparently every game they lost, they played like Bayern Munich but somehow lost…… I think thats what got to the owners…..

Giggs to take over affairs. He has form anyway. Good away from home.
Lolocaust
To be fair, he played it close enough to home that he might improve the home record too!
What is the point sacking Moyes and getting Giggs to take over with only a few games left? At least leave the man a bit of dignity and let him see out the season. If they want to make a change then, fair enough.
@ Wolf Pack
VeLOLceraptor.
@ Wolf Pack
@ Wolf Pack
Moyes is not too blame,he has taken over a team of misfits.Ferguson knew what was coming when he jumped ship.
That team of misfits won the league last year with 11 points to spare.
Exactly Iain – where do people get this ridiculous idea that the United team is crap!?
Wild Rover don’t jump on the band wagon mate… Moyes is a mid table manager , simples, look where Everton are without him??? very little difference in both teams from last season… Murphy made a very good point on MOTD last night… Why was Valencia , the fastest footballer in the world on the bench, when pace was needed…. Just not the guy for united.
Did he? Did you have a chat with him?
@ All of you
As usual the truth lies somewhere in between.
Dave one question why was ferguson’s departure so sudden? Because he knew he had old and sub standard players.
@ Wild Rover
That’s total rubbish Rover.
@ James Comerford
The current state of United is not down to “one man” but a variety of players.
The Owners for failing to invest top dollar for top players
The Board for not planning for Fergusons retirement
Ferguson for ignoring crisis level issues in the squad, transfer, scouting and youth development systems.
Moyes for his truly abject and lamentable management this season.
The players – for totally failing to be professional and work for a manager they did not respect.
it was not all of a sudden , lf you listend to the man he said two years earlyer he would retire last year..
Weakest team to win it, stop using that excuse, Moyes was and is being shafted!
@Dave O’Shea, that is what everyone is saying, do u think someone else hasn’t thought of the possibility that Moyes is the problem, you are on the bandwagon that has been going since he got the job!
What a ridiculous comment. Everton are due to finish where in the league this year first is it. Did moyes not finish 5th or 6th most years.
Worth casting our minds back to this Journal article after Moyes’ appointment http://thescore.thejournal.ie/5-issues-david-moyes-united-manager-976058-Jul2013/
Here’s some of my favourite comments!
Let’s be avin’ ya!
@ Sean Collins
Nonsense Sean – he is getting a reward for his performances this season.
Damn it!
Everything was going so well…
I’m sorry he spent 11 years at Everton and won NOTHING !
Ha.
Even the Sevco Serf Club couldn’t bad trip like that on one their Buckie and Ketamine benders!!
And he was doing such a great job
Can you bunch not be happy with probably winning the season ?
And what position did Loserpool finish last year again?
as your name implies…. it hurts….. hahaha
Only non Man U fans want him to stay.
Poor Moyes he has a crap group of players to choose from.
Crap group of players?? Crap players you speak of had already won the league this time last year. The squad is quality but moyes is out of his depth.
That was supposedly his forte. Getting results out of an average squad.
Excellent point Brendan.
And to boot he bought Everton’s best player and Chelsea’s two time player of the season.
The quality was there in the squad. You can’t honestly tell me that United team are as bad as 7th.
Moyes is tactically awful. The players don’t know what the game plan is because there isn’t one. He has to go.
Moyes
Rodgers had worse start to his career with Liverpool, get of your high horse, I’ll be even longer than 24 years before they win their next one.
So, for every year longer for Liverpool, +1 year to united…
@Sarah
YNWA
@ matthias
De Gea would play at City. Probably Vidic too given how often Kompany is out and how poor the backup is.
Liverpool have played fabulous football this season but YNWA is and always was a crap song, and an even sadder tag line.
Yes, maybe they should sing always look on the bright side of life….. classic…
Also a crap song
Yeah, but it was Monty Python, so accepted….
De gea,Evra,Mata,Kagawa would start for Liverpool!!
Yea sure, Liverpool ladies team is doing just fine….. Ne need for them….. The ladies at Old Trafford need all the help they can get.
@Chris
Nobody was saying United had a crap squad 12months ago when they ran away with the league.
No detractors after the return leg vs Olympiakos, home to Bayern, 5 and 4 past Leverkusen…
Make no mistake, the players need to take their share of the blame.
@ Michael Cunningham
Categorically, literally and TOTALLY untrue Michael.
Many MANY United fans were saying United had a crap squad a year ago, two years ago, three years ago. Ever since Ronaldo left in fact.
That’s complete nonsense Michael. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
@ Felix
Jeez…
Did I hit a nerve here?
He’s doing a great job. Give him a 25 year contract ……from a Liverpool supporter…YNWA
I’m pretty sure the same was said for Roy Hodgson, wasn’t it? ;)
But as it seems, as much as I appreciated what he tried to do, he wasn’t the man UNited needed ot replace Ferguson.
Jaysus Liam, im surprised no one else has said that this season…. oh wait
Your worse than a guy I know on Facebook. Can’t be happy about liverpool winning..he has to have a go at utd. Its a bit sad
Problem is utd fans know only success .
No patience,
Its hard to see success in the future with the way he has the team playing. 7th place wouldnt be so bad if there were signs of improvement
Because man utd fans never slagged anybody during their years of dominance? Come on lads u have to accept your bit of slagging, u had it good for 2decades
Les, your into guys on Facebook??? :)
Not sad just life.
I’d be sacking the 11 limp eejits on the pitch first….
@ Conor Cahill
@ Luke
Rooney? He just ran around a lot.
@ Luke
Is any player worth that? Depends on the market. McIlroy got 200m from Nike to wear their t-shirts and swing their clubs. That’s the market for you.
The difference is Rooney is not good enough.
No arguments there at all. I like Moyes but his attempt to portray a disinterested player as the captain and leader of the club was a bit goofy.
Tim sherwood will b looking for a job….
Oh god no
Slippery slope. The man was entitled to at least a second season, I think united are gonna recycle managers lyk mad the next few years. Bad bad decision
I also don’t think this is legit, I imagine sky sorts would be reporting this if it was plausible
100% paul. He should get next season, or at least christmas
They are on the app
@ Paul
They are Paul. So is the Guardian. It seems genuine enough. & its only to be expected.
Frankly I would agree, generally speaking, that a manager should be given time. But he has been a total disgrace this season.
Ya when it broke here it wasn’t, which was surprising as there usually first with the big news
Let David Moyes see out his 6 year contract . He can only improve ,
well he cant get much F**king worse.
David will always be known as Alex Ferguson last signing…
He has shown zero indication so far that he can improve anything. No top class players want to play for him with his archaic training methods.
And your only as good as your last signing.
So many red thumbs for such a reasonable comment.
Can somebody, anybody name ONE good thing Moyes has brought to Man United?
@ Banking
Comedy?
Martinez is reaping the rewards of moyes good work over the last 11 years at Everton …moyes is reaping the reward of fergusons lack of work in rebuilding over the last 3-4 years at utd. He has had no time to rebuild the squad. Hard not to have some sympathy for him.
It will cost the Glaziers €30 million in compo to sack Moyes.
@ David barry
Ferguson certainly did no rebuilding.
What a comment, what substance do you have to back that up???
I’m old enough to remember when Ferguson was on the verge of being sacked but they stuck with him and look how that turned out
Ferguson started far better than Moyes.
Fergueson didnt inherit League Champions and one of the best developed and financially secure clubs in the world…
But he inherited the spine of his team for the next decade through Uniteds youth system. In the transfer market he had far more chumps than trumps.
@ Ger
The spine of a team? Are you bloody kidding me?
I hope he stays, it would be sad to see them winning again!
I hope some of the United players take their fare share of the blame.
Watching Rio, Vidic, RVP, Evra etc etc at home vs Olympiakos showed what this crowd can do waaaay more under Moyes than they showed all season.
*fair share
*that this
Where’s the edit button??
And just a couple of weeks after Neil Warnock turns down the Forest job. Coincidence? I really hope not.
Sam Allardyce and Fergie got on great…. hmmmm
The players have let him down badly. Jurgen Klopp should be there number 1 target.
Why would Klopp leave? Playing in the Champions league, in his native land and playing in front of the best fans in the world.
He did though bring Dortmund back form nowhere, didn’t he? If somehow, he said “I’ll bring this to United”, provided they offered him big money maybe they’d be more fortunate. But I can’t see that happening, to be fair.
It’s amazing how enticing a different challenge can be when attached to a big chunk of cash.
If be very surprised if Kloop left.
Can’t see him leaving to go to utd.
Hodgson for united
You can leave Benitez and Dalglish out of it. Hodgson and Moyes analogy is spot on though.
You could go back a bit further there with Souness and Evans as well…
Benitez was hardly crap. He tended to win a thing or two…
Wow….. then Man U get a good Manager only once every 25 years…. Busby…. then mediocrity…. then Fergie….. after that 25 more years mediocrity….. already started….. using your formula….
Oh gawd…. your Sky sports generation baby…… Tell me what you know about Dalglish, please, everyone loves a laugh…..
Hate to see Liverpool win the Premiership. Always a bitter bunch. The hatred and jealousy for Man U was sickening throughout the yrs.
And yet the gentlemanly united fans were singing “justice for the 39″ at the game yesterday instead of cheering on their team when they most needed it…so who’s bitter and twisted?????
“Hate to see Liverpool win the Premiership. Always a bitter bunch.”
You see what you did there, don’t you?
The tribal behaviour of (a lot) Liverpool fans throughout the years was always in bad taste and always gave me the generic impression that they are sore losers. The defacing of that wall in Cabra was to be expected.
Really, they are sore losers…. you see what you did there, don’t you?
God you are not smart….
They were right there should be justice for the 39. Heysel seems to have been conveniently airbrushed from Liverpools history
Did I miss something?
Not at all, in fact you’ve actually proved my point.
Not sure if that comment is for myself or Paul, Graham.
Did not read that correct, but see it now, you were asking me the question. It was to Paul, but you answered it well enough…. no need for it from so called real fans…. too many tragedies have happened….. let it go…..
Bang on.
Does Moyes gets to pick his successor ?
Yeah, but it must be someone who can ruin HIS legacy!!
Wow these Liverpool fans are funny, repeating the same joke over and over. Funny, funny bunch of people.
I’ve no problem taking a slagging, but a little originality would be nice.
I could copy and paste your response, I do like a funny joke, but yes, that originality thing…. goes both ways..
Sacking the back room staff was his first mistake. Too defensive, not enough passion. Seems like a nice bloke but it just hasn’t worked out!
Agreed was such a massive mistake in all fairness Everton did good most seasons under team moyes but some seasons almost in a relegation scrap.
His backroom staff are not Pl winning staff.
Say it ain’t so!
Weezer!
Absolutely inevitable
Right decision. He was never the right man for the job.
There is quality in his current squad, his handling of the press has been embarrasing for United, no big game mentality, no tactics.
It made no sense to give a 6 year contract to someone who has never won anything in football. Especially when you consider the other top managers that were available at the time or could have been gotten for a fee.
This season has gone worse than anyone could have realistically imagined. Time to go David.
@ Banking
@ Banking
Ah yes forgot about the FA cup win for Wigan.
Why was Moyes given a 6 year contract? Were they afraid Real Madrid would try and poach him?
That’s what he is trying to say though, that should have been relevant criteria and they should have hired somebody else.
Liverpool fan here not gonna put the boot in.Fergie left him a load of dirt .I reckon he’s just to far out of his depth. The task is 2 big for him he’s not a bad manager just not good enuff to sort out that mess.I wouldn’t trust him with 150 million
Wouldn’t trust him with 1.50 for a “precious” bin-lid!!
Got to give the man some time, people were talking of sacking Brendan Rodgers this time last year…
Apples and Oranges Johnny.
Brendan took over a Liverpool side that were becoming a joke.
You literally could not get better conditions than those at Man United.
@ Banking
Cant attract world class talent? RVP? Mata?
They were able to spend £80m this season!
@ Banking
Points taken, youre not wrong in what youre saying but my underlying point is that Moyes was NEVER the right man for this job.
The fact that he had alot of favourable conditions and ended up 7th is testament to that.
He brought his best player from Everton with him – And in one season they nearly equal what he did in ten!
The fact is that he just was never the man for the job. I’m sure you’ll agree with that.
@ Banking
@ L Connors
It’s a fair point L.
Please don’t sack moyesie. He’s a legend..
David who?
Moyes.
It’s the end of an error.
Cracker!
It’s a business to yanks!loosing profit in stocks no money champions league etc
Zero loyalty,I’m utd fan obviously we had poor season & wasn’t too happy about moyes tactics & method of play but I feel u should give him another crack at least another yr & then fully judge?
What will happen the CHOOSEN ONE flag!!!!!!
It will probably be brought around to schools to scare kids into improving their spelling and lowering their expectations!!
Very average squad this year, Moyes deserves a second season, before anyone says they won the league by 11pts last season how many wins last seasob were thanks to RVP rescuing utd over and over again, give him a chance
@ Cian
And what has Moyes done to get the best out of RVP? Last year – only a couple of minor injuries. This season?
“Run laps there Robin…there’s a good lad….wait…what do you mean he’s injured again?”
Fast twitch players like RVP have to be managed and trained in a certain way. Moyes didn’t recognise that. Just one of his many MANY mistakes.
@ Cian
Moyes is clueless.
you’ll win nothing with Moyes
Jesus Christ have you’se NO work to do………Moyes was shite, let’s face it, it’s the nature of the game.
GARY NEVILLE FOR MANAGER.
Good Riddance if it is true. I had enough of Moyes. He is clueless
Had enough? From what I can see you never have him a chance. Bad mouthing him before he even started
Never liked him …..
I should have stayed at Everton
Thanks Alex
David Moyes
Lucky for Everton
I can’t believe the supporters of United. Just recall their situation before Ferguson managed to get them going. They are fickle and need to learn the true meaning of team support from Liverpool supporters.
Like the support Liverpool fans gave Hodgson?
If he does get the sack then i’ll feel sorry for him.He inherited a very average group of players and has the fergie legacy hanging over him.Everytime utd had a poor result the tv cameras went straight to ferguson so moyes is still in his shadow.I think he deserves time to put his own stamp on the team but given the fact that most of utd fans know nothing except success he will always be under huge pressure to deliver
A six year contract will cost utd a fortune to pay off. Money that could have been spent on players….or topping up the Glazers slush fund!
No. Theres a clause in it that he does not get the full amount. Apparently
To be honest, this may sound crazy, but if he did get the full amount, then that’d surely hurt the Glazers which is a good thing because they don’t give two tosses about the club! At least then they wouldn’t make more money than they already have!
I’d say his six-year contract is worth less than three for a proven, trophy-winning manager.
Noooooo…….
David Moyes for next England manager
It’s about time he’s useless , how can he be described as being successful with Everton when he’s won nothing
I hope the new manager would consider bringing back Rene and mike Phelan , if DM does go
Apparently rene is coming back
Les, either they make a clean break and completely new background staff, or from within, Giggs, maybe…. wonder if Gary Neville would come back, he knows his stuff….
Leave him alone hes doing a great job
Why isn’t there a Don’t Care option in the poll :-)
Doesn’t care about article yet cares enough to post message stating he doesn’t care.
Because one way or the other everybody cares about Manchester United. It’s the reason the news when confirmed will be front page headlines and not just back page news.
#Arrogance
Well it’s the headline news on Sky News now and it hasn’t been been confirmed yet. So is it arrogance or fact.
Any time a manager gets sacked its headline news on sky sports. If someone twists their ankle it’s headline news on sky sports. Nothing special or earth shaking about this story so yes. Arrogance
Professional sports. The only area where the manager gets sacked for the non-performance of the company, (team).
Should be applied to governments too.
Give him some fergie time that should last another ten year
As someone said above, its a slippery slope, thought he would get till xmas, the bigger egos and names (that are probably undermining him) in the dressing room will be gone this year aswell.
About time, he has been a disaster. Hopefully Van Gaal will be brought in now
Louis van Gaal is boxing promoter Frank Warren’s evil twin brother. Who’d want that dope!?
United only won de league last year because van persie carried the team. They had scholes who could control the tempo of a game.. plus Liverpool, chelsea and man city are alot better this year!!
Man Utd don’t have a good squad. If you were picking the team of the season 6 or 7 years ago, probably half of them would have been Man U players. This season, they’ll struggle to get 1 player into the team of the season.
It’s pretty much the same squad as last season. And 4 of them (DeGea, Ferdinand, Carrick, Van Persie) 5 if you include Juan Mata were in the PFA team of the season last season.
I feel sorry for him.. Seems like a nice man, he’s just not up to the job, he won’t be the first & he won’t be the last.
20 million payout for the remaining 5 years left on his contract – Some dosh!! Money has the game ruined.

Utd players played for alex ferguson not man utd it would appear.moyes will be the scapegoat for a team that fotgot the basics over night.moyes can only pick the team when they cross onto the pitch they should give maximum effort and be professional.utd played to that level twice in the 2 games against munich.utd players should be ashamed if moyes gets sacked.shame on them indeed.
@ Benny
By the way, I’m going for a snooze.
Moyes should have remembered the saying many are called but few are chosen
Poor lad :(
I like david moyes I just don’t think he suited utd.if he goes hopefully the clowns of coaching staff goes!
