AN NFL PLAYER has pledged to help relief efforts for the Boston Marathon blasts — by promising to make a donation for every catch he makes next season.
Three people have been confirmed dead and about 140 more injured in the devastation caused yesterday by two explosions at the finish line of the famous race.
In the immediate aftermath wide receiver Danny Amendola, who signed for the New England Patriots last month, promised that he would donate $100 to a relief fund for every pass he catches this season.
For every pass Amendola drops, he will double his donation to $200.
On the basis of his statistics from last season, Amendola’s donation is likely to reach upwards of $5,000. In 2012 he caught 62 passes and dropped just two, one of the league’s lowest drop rates.
