IRELAND’S DAN MARTIN remains in sixth place following today’s 17th stage at the Vuelta à Espana.
Martin finished towards the back of the main bunch in 39th as John Degenkolb nicked his fourth stage win on the line in A Coruna.
Michael Matthews was second on this, the final flat stage of the race, while Fabian Cancellara was third.
Race leader Alberto Contador was 34th and retains his grip on the red jersey with a 1’36″ lead over Alejandro Valverde.
Meanwhile Nicolas Roche finished sixth on today’s fourth stage at the Tour of Britain, won by GC leader Michal Kwiatkowski.
Roche is fourth overall, 14 seconds behind the Polish rider with five stages remaining.
