November internationals: Dan Carter in doubt for All Blacks' Wales clash

“Dan has a twinge in his right leg and will be assessed over the next 24 hours,” an All Black spokesman said.

NEW ZEALAND FLY-HALF Dan Carter is in doubt for the international against Wales at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow.

The All-Black struggled with a leg problem in yesterday’s training session.

Carter has scored 162 points in nine appearances against the Welsh and it could be a significant setback for Steve Hansen’s men.

“Dan has a twinge in his right leg and will be assessed over the next 24 hours,” an All Black spokesman said.

However, when Hansen was questioned about the injury to Carter, he denied any knowledge. Former Wales captain Martyn Williams described Carter’s possible absence as major blow to the All Blacks.

“He’s not only the best fly-half in the world but he’s probably the best player in the world at the moment,” said Williams. ”If he is not available for New Zealand it will affect them. There is no doubt about that.”

The All Blacks have their final training session at Millennium Stadium on Friday and any decision on Carter’s fitness will be made then. The 30-year-old has suffered from injury before – most notably a knock that cut his 2011 World Cup campaign short. Waikato Chiefs fly-half Aaron Cruden is expected to replace Carter. Wales have also been hit by injury with young wing George North having already been ruled out.
