“I will always give 100% for the chairman and the club, and I look forward to another season playing at Craven Cottage, which really is a special ground.”

FULHAM MIDFIELDER Damien Duff signed a one-year contract extension with the Premier League club today.

Duff’s deal was due to expire at the end of this season, but the former Ireland international will now be contracted to the Cottagers until June 2014.

The 33-year-old’s decision to stay is good news for Fulham, who have 11 players whose contracts run out at the end of the season.

Former Chelsea star Duff, who has scored three goals in 22 league appearances for Martin Jol’s team this season, said: “I’ve loved my time at Fulham since I joined the club more than three years ago, so I’m really happy that I am going to stay here for a further year.

“With 12 matches remaining this season, a top-10 finish is still possible and would represent another good season for the club as we aim to play in the Premier League for a 13th consecutive campaign.

“I will always give 100% for the chairman and the club, and I look forward to another season playing at Craven Cottage, which really is a special ground.”

  • As a Fulham fan I can say he’s been one of our top 3 players for the last few years. A shame he retired from international football because he’s definitely still got it!

  • Ah shite! This means he wont be playin for Shels next season then. Guess I’ll have to wait another season.
Congrats on the new contract Damien. Its well deserved. When fit this season he has been fantastic. Think he made a very mature decision to retire from International football Paddy. It would have been very easy to retain his place in Crap’s team meaning that young players like Brady, McClean, Hendrick would have to bide their time until Duffer did decide to retire or when the auld fella finally goes. Seriously one of the nicest most unassuming players in the game. Deserves everything he has got out of the game as he plays simply for his love of football unlike most of the selfish, money-hungry prima donnas. Cant wait for the day that he does come to play in the LoI, even if its not Shels. Shame there isnt more players out there with the same ideologies.
