More injury woe for Louis van Gaal as Daley Blind limps off with knee injury

Dutch TV are reporting the midfielder will be out for 4-6 weeks.

MANCHESTER UNITED MIDFIELDER Daley Blind is set for a period on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during Netherlands’ 6-0 win over Latvia this afternoon.

Blind clashed with Eduards Visnakovs after just twenty minutes of the Euro 2016 Qualifier and was unable to continue as he hobbled off.

Dutch TV are now reporting the 24-year-old will be out for 4-6 weeks after suffering knee ligament damage.

The news of Blind’s injury comes as another setback to Louis van Gaal ahead of his sides’ trip to face Arsenal on Saturday. David de Gea and Michael Carrick are both already doubts after picking up injuries during international duty with Spain and England respectively.

Marcus Rojo remains sidelined with a shoulder injury while Phil Jones, Rafael and Jonny Evans also remain unavailable. Chris Smalling has, however, served his suspension for being sent-off at the Ethiad Stadium a couple of weeks ago.

There was encouraging news for United, however, as Robin van Persie opening the scoring for the hosts at the Amsterdam Arena as they strolled to a convincing victory.

Arjen Robben and Klaas Jan Huntelaar both scored twice while former Chelsea midfielder Jeffrey Bruma was also on the scoresheet.

Guus Hiddink’s side now have six points from their opening four games in Group A.

Elsewhere, Cyprus hammered Andorra 5-0 and Norway beat Azerbaijan 1-0.
