Crossmaglen defeat Kilcoo to lift Ulster title

Early goals from Oisín McConville and Aaron Kernan helped the Armagh side secure victory.

CROSSMAGLEN SECURED A comprehensive 3-09 to 1-09 win over Kilcoo at the Athletic Grounds earlier today, winning the Ulster Club Senior Football Championship for the third successive time in the process.

A penalty from Oisín McConville and an Aaron Kernan goal gave the Armagh side a healthy lead after only four minutes.

Anthony Devlin then got a goal back for Kilcoo in the second half, as his side threatened a comeback, having been nine points down at half-time.

However, despite finishing the game with only 13 men following the sendings off of Michael McNamee and Jamie Clarke, Crossmaglen effectively sealed their victory late on, thanks to a Kyle Brennan goal.

Today’s success means that Crossmaglen have won six of the last seven Ulster titles, and the club are now set to face St. Brigid’s in the All-Ireland semi-final.
