IRELAND’S INJURY CRISIS has worsened this afternoon with the news that Gordon D’Arcy has been ruled out of Ireland’s remaining three Six Nations fixtures.
The veteran centre complained of some discomfort in his foot after the 6-12 loss to England last Sunday and scans yesterday revealed a stress fracture.
A statement released by the IRFU indicates a six-week absence, putting his return date near the end of March – a fortnight after the Six Nations climaxes.
D’Arcy joins Jonathan Sexton, Simon Zebo and Mike McCarthy on the casualty list from Sunday’s error-strewn defeat.
His mis-fortune provides extra incentive for Ulster’s Luke Marshall and Darren Cave, along with Leinster’s Fergus McFadden, as they go into Pro12 action this evening.
