Cork include senior figures in intermediate hurling side to face Waterford

The teams meet in next Sunday’s curtain-raiser at Semple Stadium.

CORK HAVE INCLUDED players with senior experience in their intermediate hurling side to face Waterford in next Sunday’s Munster quarter-final in Thurles.

Cormac Murphy is a current member of the county senior squad for the championship but has been named to start at right half-back for the curtain-raiser in Semple Stadium at 2pm.

Wing-forward Michael O’Sullivan and substitute Colm Spillane both were in action for Jimmy Barry-Murphy’s Cork side during the league last spring but were omitted from the championship panel.

O’Sullivan was also part of the CIT side that contested this year’s Fitzgibbon Cup final and is joined by his third-level teammates, full-back Alan Dennehy and midfielder John Cronin.

Murphy and wing-forward Barry Lawton were part of the UCC team they defeated in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final in March.
