CORK CITY STRETCHED their league winning streak to six after victory against Munster rivals Limerick FC at Turner’s Cross.
Mark O’Sullivan’s brace was added to by Garry Buckley, securing a 3-0 win for the Rebel Army, who now go into a difficult tie away to Sligo Rovers next weekend full of confidence.
O’Sullivan put the Leesiders in front with twenty minutes gone, getting the faintest of touches on a in-swinging Healy free-kick. Buckley then doubled the hosts advantage, heading home a beautiful floated Johnny Dunleavy cross just before the hour mark.
Liam Kearney spurned a chance early on, before Dennehy’s cross forced Barry Ryan into a smart stop. Ross Mann had a volley cleared off the line for Limerick after the break, before City put the game out of Limerick’s reach.
The victory keeps pressure on Dundalk at the top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division, after the Lilywhites secured a late draw against Derry City.
