Arsenal hoping to sign Cork City defender Lenihan - reports

The Gunners are set to open talks with the SSE Airtricity League club over the possibility of agreeing a deal for the full-back.

ARSENAL ARE REPORTEDLY chasing Cork City’s talented young full-back Brian Lenihan.

The 20-year-old defender has been one of the Rebels’ best players this season with a string of excellent performances to help John Caulfield’s side mount a challenge on the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title.

The Evening Echo reported earlier this week that Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley was at Turner’s Cross last Friday night for Cork’s win over Limerick and there are further stories this morning which suggest the Gunners will open transfer talks with the club as they go in search of the “new Seamus Coleman”.

AnIreland U21 international, Lenihan signed for Cork from Munster Senior League side College Corinthians back in the summer of 2012.
