DESPITE DRAWING WITH Bohemians, Cork City remain top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division after after a game played in difficult conditions at Turner’s Cross.
A Billy Dennehy penalty on 53 minutes was almost instantly cancelled out by Jason Byrne’s neat headed finish off an inswinging Paddy Kavanagh cross three minutes later.
Efforts from Gearoid Morrissey and Dennehy were the only ones of note in a quiet first-half, played under a dark Cork sky.
The second half was a more entertaining affair, as just after the break good work down the left side by Karl Moore set up Dave Mulcahy, but the Gypsy’s captain blazed over from five yards.
The visitors had a host of chances to seal the victory after half time, but Karl Moore’s shot was saved brilliantly by McNulty, before minutes from time Kevin Devaney rattled the crossbar.
Ultimately though, City were left angered as Mark O’Sullivan poked the ball through Bohemians’ goalkeeper Lee Murphy’s legs, only to be denied by the whistle of referee Neil Doyle.
