'I won’t look past Siver. I'll look through him, exactly on where I plan on going' -- McGregor

The Notorious met Ronda Rousey as he claimed he would ‘take over the game’ in 2015.

HAVING PROMISED A big announcement at last night’s Las Vegas press conference, UFC president Dana White had to come clean to the assembled media.

“We didn’t get it done in time for this,” he said.

Fortunately for White, he has Conor McGregor. And even among 14 stars of MMA – including the undefeated Ronda Rousey, who McGregor grabbed a quick selfie with afterwards – the Dubliner’s mouth ensured he kept the spotlight firmly fixed on him, Cagewriter reported.

‘The Notorious’ featherweight will go up against Dennis Siver in the new year. And after the 35-year-old vowed to ‘punish’ the fast-rising Irishman when they meet in the octagon on January 18, McGregor was never going to do anything but hit back.

“It is a mismatch. I’m going to whoop his ass, collect a cheque and then I’m gone.”

When posed with questions about matching the hype he has built for himself, McGregor simply continued on, projecting that 2015 will be the Notorious’ year.

“Let’s see by the end of the 2015 who has the highest pay-per-view numbers.

“Let’s see who has the highest gate. Let’s see who has the highest attendance. Again, I won’t look past Dennis. I will look through him exactly on where I plan on going. I believe 2015 will be my year.

“I know a lot of the featherweights are bitching and moaning and hating on it but they don’t have to love it. They can even hate it, but they will be forced to accept it.”

The next step McGregor is surely looking towards should he defeat Siver is the champion of his weight division, Jose Aldo. McGregor watched the Brazilian in his last win over Chad Mendes in Rio, but insisted he spotted enough flaws to ‘take over the game’.

“I believe there are a lot of holes I would capitalise on – he showed his frustration in the contest.

“Both competitors were very similar in styles. I pose different movements and different reactions than anybody on the roster, not just the division. I’m highly confident I will shut Jose Also down in spectacular fashion and take over the game.”
