Conor McGregor: 'I wanted to come over here and show the American public the new era of the fighting Irish'

The world title’s next he says.

CONOR MCGREGOR MAY have only been on the UFC’s biggest stage for one minute and 46 seconds on Saturday night but he made quite the impression.

The 26-year-old finished the job against Dustin Poirier within, as he predicted, the first round.

The large travelling contingent in the Las Vegas venue raised the roof and after McGregor’s claim two months ago on Dublin’s docklands that the Irish were ‘here to take over’, it looked like he got that forecast right too.

“This is the new age,” the SBG athlete told Joe Rogan in the Octagon afterwards. “I wanted to come over here to America and show the American public the new era of the fighting Irish and I brought my whole country with me. If one of us goes to war, we all go to war.”

Asked what’s next, he replied: “You know what’s next. That world title is next. I’m gonna fly to Brazil if they want. I’ll eliminate Chad ‘Mini’ Mendez and step in and give the fans what they want — Aldo versus McGregor. Or you know we could come back and fill that football stadium [the Aviva]. Come on over, we’ll whup them on home soil or away soil. It’s no problem.”

Conor McGregor said he’d win in the first round and he did just that tonight
