'A lot of ass-whoopings to be handed out' - McGregor eyes April comeback

“It’s inspiring but a little bit scary, the role model kind of sh*t,” admitted the Dubliner.

CONOR MCGREGOR MAY be an optimistic five months away from his next UFC fight but is so confident of his abilities that he predicts his next, prospective opponent will not land a shot on him.

McGregor suffered a cruciate knee injury during his victorious bout with Max Holloway in August. A strict recovery timetable has been laid out for the Dubliner, who told reporters he is in the gym five hours a day and already targeting new opponents. “There’s a lot of ass-whoopings to be handed out,” he joked.

“I’m over the worst of it,” he said, before reiterating his goal to beat the 10-month rehab period that UFC star George St Pierre took to return from a similar knee injury. McGregor is confident he will be back in the octogan, fighting, in six months.

“I’d love to say [I'd fight again in] March, and London, but I’d say April or May. I’d love to get in one before they’re coming to my hometown of Dublin. I know they are coming in the third quarter of next year,” he commented.

If the injury rehab stays on-track, McGregor would relish a step up to the 155-pound weight class to take on Diego Sanchez. “It’s an easy fight,” he remarked, “I like easy money.”

I like Conor and everything he’s doing to raise the profile of MMA in Ireland. But he hasn’t beaten anyone noteworthy yet and the jury remains out.

An easy fight against sanchez, no one has an easy fight against him. Some of the stuff he is coming out with is rubbish. At this stage in his ufc career that would be an ass kicking for mcgregor. It’s downright disrespectful aswell.

Sanchez would destroy him! As much as I want to like McGregor, his attitude and lack of respect makes me loath him. The sooner he gets in there with a Sanchez or an Edgar the sooner he’ll realise that words count for nothing in the cage.

After watching Sanchez last fight I think he’d be in for a serious wake-up if he got in with him. I would take Sanchez over him. I know he needs to raise his profile but the sound-bytes are getting a little monotonous, as is the accent change when he talks. Get in with some top opposition and then see where he’s at.

I am delighted that Ireland has a UFC “superstar” fighter. Great for the country. But he needs to be knocked out and then come back an fight someone with pedigree. He is all talk would like him to talk the talk with a top quality fighter.

We gotta get behind McGregor. He is awesome. Yes, he talks a lot but that’s him being himself. He is hilarious and not afraid to be himself. He is also intelligent and gonna grow into a great fighter. Go on Conor!!!!!!!!!!
