IRISH UFC FIGHTER Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor says he wasn’t quite sure how to take Akira Corassani’s challenge but added that he would welcome a fight in Boston.
The 24-year-old featherweight, who knocked out Marcus Brimmage just 67 seconds into his UFC debut last month, has been assured of a slot on the Boston card on August 17 by president Dana White.
And with others keen to test themselves against the talented Dubliner, Sweden’s Corassani (2-0) took to YouTube to, rather politely, ask McGregor for a match-up over the weekend (see clip below).
Speaking to KC on Today FM this afternoon, McGregor said: As call outs go, that’s the friendliest and most respectful one I’ve heard. I’d nearly rather he’d say ‘I’m going to kick your ass’.
He’s trying to get himself on a big card and fair play to him. If he wants his ass whooped, I’ll whoop his ass – no problem.”
Meanwhile, the UFC has announced an agreement with BT, who have bought the rights to show live coverage in Ireland and the UK.
The three-year-deal will see the channel air 400 hours of programmes, beginning on August 3.
