Point of no return?

Manning likely to miss the whole season, says Colts owner

Without their star quarterback, the Colts fell to their third straight defeat against Pittsburgh last night.

THIS MORNING BROUGHT more bad news for Indianapolis Colts fans as owner Jim Irsay confirmed that Peyton Manning is likely to miss the entire NFL season.

With Manning’s replacement Kerry Collins under centre, the Colts crumbled to their third straight defeat of the new season yesterday, 23-20 against Pittsburgh.

Speculation has been rife about the severity of the neck injury which forced the Colts’ star quarterback out of the season’s opening weeks, but until this morning, management refused to give any indication on a possible date for his return.

Local TV station WISH-TV reports that at at a breakfast meeting with Super Bowl donors, Irsay revealed that Manning would be sidelined for most of the season as he recovers from surgery.

There is an “outside chance”, Irsay later tweeted, that the star quarterback might be fit to return in December.

If their recent form continues however, the Colts will have little to play for by the time Manning suits up again.
