Cruciate fears as Cork's Colm O'Neill waits on knee scan

The Ballyclough man was stretchered off during Cork’s Division 1 win over Donegal last night.

CORK FACE AN anxious wait to find out if star forward Colm O’Neill’s knee injury is as bad as first feared.

The Rebels closed the gap on Dublin at the top of Division 1 with a two-point win over All-Ireland champions Donegal yesterday evening.

But the win was overshadowed by worrying scenes which saw O’Neill stretchered off mid-way through the first half in Páirc Uí Rinn.

The Ballyclough clubman has twice fallen victim to cruciate ligament problems in the past and initial fears are that he may have suffered another recurrence of the long-term injury.

Cork confirmed this morning that O’Neill will have a scan on his knee in the coming days to determine the severity of the blow.

Cork won 0-12 to 0-10, their third win of the Division 1 campaign to leapfrog Donegal into fourth.
