As the championship takes centre stage, some inter-county players are on the sidelines watching on.

8. Colm O’Neill (Cork)

For the third time in his career the Rebels attacker is sidelined with a torn cruciate ligament. The latest setback occurred in Cork’s league game against Donegal in March.

7. Dermot Earley (Kildare)

The Lilywhites towering midfielder faces an uncertain future with his career according to manager Kieran McGeeney after he underwent a back operation recently.

6. Diarmuid Lyng (Wexford)

A viral complaint has been troubling the St Martin’s club man in recent years and resulted in him missing his county’s entire league campaign. He continues to be ruled out with it and manager Liam Dunne has revealed that he is planning without him for this summer’s championship.

5. Gearoid McKiernan (Cavan)

The influential midfielder tore his cruciate ligament in a recent game with his club Swanlibar and now faces a season out of action.

4. Leighton Glynn (Wicklow)

A persistent ankle injury continues to rule the Garden County’s star man out of action.

3. Paudie O’Sullivan (Cork)

The Rebels attacker suffered a broken fibula and tibula in a club match at the end of April and underwent an operation to repair the damage to his serious injury.

2. Raymond Wilkinson (Derry)

Derry may have been crowned Division 2 football league champions but their triumph was overshadowed by attacker Wilkinson being stretchered off with a leg injury that was later confirmed to be a torn cruciate.

1. Stephen Daniels (Waterford)

The De La Salle defender will miss Waterford’s entire campaign after he shattered his kneecap in a challenge match against Offaly.
