Armagh SFC semi-final
CROSSMAGLEN RANGERS ARE one step closer to claiming another Armagh SFC title after defeating Maghery 0-15 to 1-9. Their victory at the Athletic Grounds places them into their 18th consecutive county final. Cross got off to a rip-roaring start and led 0-6 to 0-0 after 15 minutes. Maghery were in need of a boost and got it, courtesy of a Paul Forker penalty, after 25 minutes.
Experienced campaigners at the business end of the Ulster club championship, Cross upped the ante in the second half and kept the scoreboard ticking over. Maghery rallied late in the piece but the gap was too big.
Dublin SFC second round
Ballymun Kickhams march on in the Dublin club championship after they swept Erin’s Isle aside 4-23 to 0-4. Ballymun, beaten in last year’s All-Ireland final, scored first half goals through Dean Rock and Ted Furman and never looked back.
St Sylvester’s were comfortable 1-19 to 1-8 winners over Ballinteer St John’s. Another big win was jotted into the record books as St Brigid’s swept Thomas Davis aside 5-16 to 0-17.
Monaghan SFC semi-final replay
There was a much tighter contest at Enyvale this evening as Contibret edged out Monaghan Harps 2-13 to 1-13. The sides, who could not be separated last time out, were two points clear with five minutes to play when Conor Lavelle scored a goal that turned out to be the decider. Contibret will now play Scotstown in the final.
Tipperary SFC quarter-final
Loughmore-Castleiney edged out Arravale Rovers 0-16 to 1-12 at Clonoulty to advance to the Tipp SFC semis. Extra time was needed to find a winner after the scores were level at 0-12 to 1-9 after 60 minutes. Loughmore-Castleiney snuck ahead with two points at the beginning of extra time and the cushion proved crucial in a frantic finish.
