CLARE’S MAN OF The Match David McInerney was caught on the hop a bit in his post match interview with TG4 after the Banner’s win over Galway in the All-Ireland U21 hurling championship semi final on Saturday evening.

When talking about the final next month, McInerney spoke about ‘looking forward to face Wexford in three weeks’.

In fairness to the Tulla clubman, he was very quick to apologise to Antrim and praise them on their efforts and it just goes to show how focused players are in the build up to big games.

A genuine gent – and a great hurler. Man of the Match for the third game in a row – outstanding.

Best hurler this year. Uncanny how he’s first out ahead.

Apparently he never got a look in at minor because he played forward only got converted to a full back at 19. Very difficult switch to make, this guy is unreal

I wonder did anybody even in Antrim think they’d win. Would make for a nice visit to the bookies tomorrow. Even Kevin Ryan the manager of Antrim had holidays to the US booked for next week.

Wexford were 1/80 to win, or a 17 point handicap
