Cian Healy's 'bite' hearing has been delayed

The Irish prop was due to learn his fate at a disciplinary hearing in Brisbane this morning.

CIAN HEALY’S DISCIPLINARY hearing has been postponed until late tonight Irish time.

The Lions prop was due to face biting allegations this morning but the hearing which will decide his tour fate has been pushed back until 9am Friday Australian time (midnight BST), the Australian Rugby Union said.

Healy was cited after Western Force scrum-half Brett Sheehan made an on-field complaint to the referee during the first half of the Lions’ 69-17 win in Perth.

Sheehan claimed he was bitten on the arm but said later he was unsure whether it was accidental or deliberate. Video footage shown during the match of the incident was inconclusive.

Healy was initially due to appear before a judicial hearing this morning in Brisbane after the team flew in from Perth for their next game against the Queensland Reds on Saturday.

The Leinster prop’s tour is also in doubt after he suffered suspected ankle ligament damage in the match against the Force.

Lions coach Warren Gatland has called up England prop Alex Corbisiero as cover.
