ULSTER AND IRELAND flanker Chris Henry underwent heart surgery yesterday after the 30-year-old suffered a blockage of a blood vessel before the November Test against South Africa early this month.
The BBC reported that Henry had gone under the knife and spoke with CEO Shane Logan, who said:
“I think we’d be optimistic that he will make a full recovery and come back as quickly as possible.”
A statement from the IRFU this afternoon confirmed the report, saying:
“Chris is recovering from a procedure yesterday to repair a defect in his heart wall. This was found to be related to his recent episode and has been performed to prevent further issues.”
Ulster team manager Bryn Cunningham meanwhile said that getting back to full health was the only priority for the 16-times capped openside.
