WHAT BEGAN ON 1 February this year was emphatically ended by the Chicago Bulls and Jimmy Butler last night.
Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak was abruptly halted in Chicago as a shorthanded Bulls won out 101-97.
Chicago were without Derrick Rose, recovering long-term from knee surgery, Marco Belinelli and Yoakim Noah but superior rebounding and three-point shooting were too much for their guests.
The loss means the NBA’s longest winning streak, set by the LA Lakers in 1971-72, shall remain at 33 games for now.
“We’ve been saying it all year; when we’re at our best, we can beat anybody,” said Deng.
Luol Deng [28 points] and Carlos Boozer were Miami’s chief tormentors but the exclamation point was delivered by Jimmy Butler:
