CHELSEA ARE THROUGH to the Europa League quarter-finals after winning their tie against Steaua Bucharest 3-2 on aggregate following a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Juan Mata got the Blues off the mark after 34 minutes before the Romanians equalised on the stroke of half-time.

John Terry then scored a captain’s goal to again put the Premier League side in front before Fernando Torres made it 3-1 on the night. The Spanish striker later insisted on taking a penalty when Eden Hazard was fouled; he struck the kick off the bar and over.

Newcastle too are through to the last eight after a dramatic 1-0 win over Anzhi Makhachkala at St James’ Park tonight gave them an aggregate victory by the same scoreline. Papiss Cisse scored with virtually the last touch of the game to send St James’ Park into raptures.
