CHARLIE ADAM SCORED twice as Stoke City beat Manchester United 2-1 this afternoon to show the flailing Premier League champions it will take more than one big-money signing to improve their fortunes.
The optimism created by Juan Mata‘s transfer from Chelsea drained away as United were beaten for the third time in their last five league games, losing ground on rivals Everton, who beat Aston Villa 2-1, and Tottenham Hotspur who drew 1-1 at Hull City.
United, who fielded Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Mata in a mouth-watering forward line, were again undone at the back.
Adam rifled home a spectacular winner in the second half to leave United seventh on 40 points, five adrift of Everton in fifth and four behind Spurs.

Don’t suffer alone.we are here to help
Another very poor result. Tough game today. Shit Weather and both center halves having to going off injured early on didn’t help. Still should have beaten Stoke!!!!!
Its getting painful to watch Evra defend this season and i still cannot warm to Cleverly. I believed all season we would get fourth but after today im starting to doubt we will. Will probably have to win all 14 remaining games to qualify for fourth. Its possible but unlikely. Also I believe the players have to take responsibility for the poor performances. Not all Moyes fault as most newspaper’s and media will write about tomorrow.
I agree to a point O’Leary, really the only thing that has changed since last year is the manager so Moyes does need to take the blame for whatever has changed. However, it is the first change in manager there in so long that there was always going to be an adaption period, the first season is the honeymoon period, if this carries on next year it’s when you start to really worry. That being said for a club of their size to miss out on Europe would be a pretty damning first season for Moyes when they’ve probably qualified for it every year since the premier league started.
I know what you are sainng Ted but some of the individual preformances this season have been shocking. Evra for one and I can see teams are targeting him every game. Carrick just threw his leg at the free kick today in a half arsed way. I agree Moyes has made mistakes and I also understand its going to take time to get it right but I cannot see the Glazers being to happy about missing out on fourth. So the pressure is on from now until May. But the players still have to stand up and improve both individually and collectively.
Yeah I’d agree with you about all of the above. I think the players had an absolute fear of Fergie that Moyes just can’t recreate and it will be when he gets to shape his own team on his own terms that he will get the most out of them. That being said if they miss out on the CL that’s hampering the Glazers for two years and won’t go down well at board room level because of the loss of funding this would cause. He’d probably keep his job for next year but the pressure and speculation could be insurmountable for the whole team.
Serious lack of United supporters commenting this evening. Fair play P O Leary and Ted for getting out there! And that’s from a City fan. (It is pretty great though! Ctid)
Didn’t see the game but I have to be honest as a Liverpool fan. It’s not like when fans were calling for Ferguson to be sacked a year after he was made manager. With the money involved now, Moyes maybe will not get the chance till next Xmas. If they’re outside the CL, Moyes will be under severe pressure for the first couple of months of next season to pick up points. Utd are now a victim of Ferguson’s success and are literally too big a cash cow to be outside the CL for one year with an uncertain future. Outside the CL for one year with Ferguson still there, fine, bad season. Outside the CL for one year and facing the next one with a manager who may not come up with the goods again next season?? Who knows?
Kian in fairness the only thing UTD are Sh!te at is ..out of luck ! Lost two Central defenders today which reshaped the team, lost a goal to a crap deflection and to seal it off stole should have been down to ten men but ref bottled it !
Spot on with that Paul. God it gets desperate whenever fans start using injuries as a excuse. All team’s will be missing players throughout the season due to this, that’s why you have a squad. United are just not good enough at the moment.
I just read a post on yahoo sports where one manu fan was complaining that the reasons they lost was because the weather was atrocious and Stoke kept breaking up every manu attack. Who do Stoke think they are? Imagine breaking up attacks like that.
I thought UTD would be so much stronger this year after their big buys from Everton and
Chelsea , that is surely trying to buy the league,
buying up the best players from the

Unreal they lost again… Top 4 is looking more unlikely by the day, RVP still the man though, some amount of goals for a man who’s been missing for most of the season.
He missed 2 months this time around, he was injured for a spell at the start of the season too . Maybe he’s played a little more than half. I’m an arsenal fan by the way and I hate the guy. Great goal scorer though, no denying that.
He’s one of the best natural finishers of the ball I’ve ever seen, really incredible talent for finding the back of the oul onion sack and Paddy you’re right, he’s missed a lot of this season!
Arbitrary is it? So you are one of those people that believe you must be from a place to support a sports team? There could be something to that (I personally don’t see it), but reality being what it is, the point is moot.
Didn’t see the match, was listening to the end of it on the radio. There was a crushing inevitability about it though when Cleverly and Welbeck were mentioned. They don’t seem to be cutting the mustard. Young has improved slightly in the last game or two but I still don’t trust him. Jones is forever getting injured, Evra is seriously dodgy in defence, the list goes on. Getting the two lads back and mata in will be a help bit top four is looking further out of their grasp every week.

If you drive in Manchester be very careful…apparently they giving points to everybody
Only around old Trafford :)
heh, no excuses now with mata, rooney and vp all in the team, q the crying and calling for moyes head, moyesin!
Still funny,RvP,Rooney,Mata and Carrick all start today…
Load of Utd fans telling me this week how 4th place was in the bag!!
I had stopped laughing at them awhile back, it got boring. But then they started on about finishing 4th and it got funny again.
Reckon they’ll hit the double figures in league losses this season
Thousands of United “supporters” in Ireland running down to their local sports shop as we speak to buy a brand spanking new City shirt.
Lol
Thank you God for letting Alex Ferguson live to see this …
I owe you one………..
Go on Stoke
We all love Charlie in Liverpool – Hail Charlie Adam!!
The certainly love Charlie in Liverpool alright.
I really hope to god United don’t sack Moyes..
Glib ‘ABU-ing’ aside, serious issue here for UTD.
How can an injury to the moderately talented Phil Jones upset things so much.
Fergie & now 2 x transfer windows for Moyes have ignored the back line now.
Man u fans on the beach in Spain… no way back ‘if fergie’s there why don’t he just sit on the bench.
Another very poor result. Tough game today. Shit Weather and both center halves having to going off injured early on didn’t help. Still should have beaten Stoke!!!!!

Time to get a new “field” Mr O Leary !

Lorcan. Say what u want about United but leave my field out of it….

Interesting times ahead. Its not pretty but all part and parcel of being a fan. Take the good with the bad.
Not a fan but I think ref got it wrong with Walters , should have been red card and might have changed the result
The yanks goina take that field you love off of ya….
Sam I will refer you to my comment above regarding the field. And I trust this will be the last of it…. ya little messer.
Im not going to disagree with Keith Barr. Indeed thats if you are the former half back from the Big smoke.
You worked hard for that field,Il leave you to it
Serious lack of United supporters commenting this evening. Fair play P O Leary and Ted for getting out there! And that’s from a City fan. (It is pretty great though! Ctid)

Looks like signing Juan didn’t “mata”…UTD still sh1te :P (sorry for the pun)
Kian in fairness the only thing UTD are Sh!te at is ..out of luck ! Lost two Central defenders today which reshaped the team, lost a goal to a crap deflection and to seal it off stole should have been down to ten men but ref bottled it !
yeah because other teams dont get injuries and get every decision their way, funny how when it was other teams it was just because utd were ‘better’
That’s right they were better !
Sh1t outta luck, quality, determination and generally sh1t this season!
Deflected goals, dodgy refereeing decisions,Seems like a taste of yere own medicine to me!
Lovely stuff ha ha
I thought UTD would be so much stronger this year after their big buys from Everton and
Chelsea , that is surely trying to buy the league,
buying up the best players from the
opposition.

Hello United filth. How’s your day been?
Unreal they lost again… Top 4 is looking more unlikely by the day, RVP still the man though, some amount of goals for a man who’s been missing for most of the season.
2 months is all he missed? Hardly most of season
One player in was never going to change much. Utd need about five new faces.
Its all arbitrary anyway cos none of us are from Manchester
And your not the Count of Monte Christo so….
Arbitrary is it? So you are one of those people that believe you must be from a place to support a sports team? There could be something to that (I personally don’t see it), but reality being what it is, the point is moot.
Can’t believe the ref only played 7 mins fergie time, webb would have kept going….
Didn’t see the match, was listening to the end of it on the radio. There was a crushing inevitability about it though when Cleverly and Welbeck were mentioned. Sack him now before it to late
To late for what?
Ah no I love the jobs he’s doing! #inmoyeswetrust
Paul nelly Nelson muppet name muppet person
ouch! that hurts
God, I love the comments, but unfortunately all,are correct. Moyes doesn’t know what the hell he is doing. Bring on morino
Jesus does care
