CELTIC HAVE WARNED Anthony Stokes about his conduct following the striker’s attendance at a memorial event for murdered Real IRA member Alan Ryan.
Manager Neil Lennon said that the matter has been dealt with internally and that the Dubliner has been made aware of the importance of upholding the Glasgow club’s reputation.
Stokes was pictured last month at an event in Crumlin for Ryan, the paramilitary leader who was shot dead near his Donaghmede home in September.
When challenged by journalist Tom English about his presence, the 24-year-old described the night as “a fundraiser for a family to pay funeral costs.”
“We spoke to him [Stokes] internally,” Lennon said at a press conference on Monday. “I am not going to moralise to him, but you cannot damage the reputation of the club. He is aware of that now. It has been dealt with internally.”
A spokesperson for Celtic told TheScore.ie that the club would not go into details on disciplinary matters.
