No Seanie Johnston on Cavan panel for McKenna Cup

Cavan boss Terry Hyland has named a 25-man panel for the pre-season tournament.

SEANIE JOHNSTON HAS not been included on Cavan’s panel for the McKenna Cup.

Manager Terry Hyland has named a 25-man panel for the pre-season tournament but there is no place for Johnston who is now back playing with Cavan Gaels.

The forward was at the heart of one of the biggest GAA transfer sagas when he switched his inter-county allegiance to Kildare.

But he was not able to nail down a regular place in two seasons with the Lilywhites and left Staplestown club St Kevin’s to return home earlier this year.

Kingscourt’s Philip Tinnelly is called up to the senior team for the first time and Redhills’ Packie Leddy, one of Cavan’s U21 stars in 2011, has also been included.

Cavan panel: Conor Gilsenan, Rory Dunne, Turloc Mooney, David Hyland, Alan Clarke, Niall Smith, Philip Tinnely, David Givney, Cian Mackey, Martin Reilly, Damien O’Reilly, Mark McKeever, Martin Dunne, Niall McDermott, Alan O’Mara, Joshua Hayes, Killian Brady, Marc Leddy, Fergal Flanagan, Declan McKiernan, Niall Murray, Packie Leddy, Eugene Keating, Kevin Tierney, Micheal Lyng.

Why would you call up Johnston to ruin the moral of a young and improving squad

Oh Seanie seems to be a castaway isolated in Cavan.
I wonder does this mean a possible place on the Tipp hurling squad.
Maybe could qualify by being parachuted on to the Arravale Rovers Football team for the annual St Stephens Day Festive Football Joust against neighbours Aherlow.

The man made poor choices. Who was giving him his advice? Is there anyway back for him?
