IRISH ATHLETE CATRIONA Cuddihy’s Olympic fate is set to be decided by an Appeals Tribunal.
Having originally been selected to compete, Cuddihy was then seemingly ruled out of a place on Ireland’s 4×400 relay squad, after an appeal by Joanna Mills to compete on the team at the expense of her colleague was successful.
However, a press release issued earlier today read:
“The Olympic Council of Ireland has appointed an Appeals Tribunal to adjudicate on the Olympic Women’s 4x400m Relay appeal by Catriona Cuddihy of the Athletics Ireland Appeal Panel decision of 7th July to nominate Joanna Mills for the Relay team.“The Members of the Tribunal are Dermot Sherlock (Hon. Secretary General), William O’Brien (First Vice President) and Susan Ahern (Executive Member) who will act as Chair.
“The Hearing will be held on Thursday July 19th with a final decision being delivered no later than Monday July 23rd.
“In the meantime, the names of both athletes involved have been entered on the Olympic Games registration system in London. One entry will be withdrawn following the OCI’s Appeals Tribunal decision.”
