Frampton confirms opponent for title defence at Wembley

The Belfast boxer will take on Fabian Orozco of Argentina in London next month.

EUROPEAN SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT champion Carl Frampton will take on Fabian Orozco at Wembley Arena next month.

The Belfast fighter is gearing towards a world title shot and defends his IBF Intecontinental belt against the Argentinian, who has recorded 20 wins from 24 fights, in London on July 20.

Derek Chisora meets unbeaten Malik Scott in the headline bout of the night while Cork’s Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan is in action with Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO International Middleweight title.

Frampton, who split from promoter Matchroom Sport to link up with Frank Warren last month, says he is looking forward to taking on the South American challenger.

I think it will be a very exciting fight.” he said. “From the footage I have seen of him he seems keen to get in to tear ups, which is what I like, someone who’ll come and have a fight.

“I think our styles will suit each other and it should be an exciting fight.”

Manager Barry McGuigan added: “Fabian Orozco, is a talented hard punching box/fighter who is coming to Wembley on the 20th of July believing he can beat Carl Frampton.

“He is rough and uncompromising and will definitely come to fight. Carl must win all of his fights as he gets closer to that World Title he craves.”

The show will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation. For information on tickets, visit eventim.co.uk
