AFTER SUFFERING A demoralising conclusion to his Six Nations campaign, England scrum-half Danny Care has been dealt another body blow.
The 24-year-old suffered an injury to his left big toe toe playing in England’s World Cup warm-up with Wales at Twickenham ten days ago. It has since emerged that the resulting joint damage will require an operation and a minimum six-week absence from the game in order to heal.
With England manager Martin Johnson due to announce his 30-man squad for the tournament this coming Monday, Care has found his name stricken from the list of the World Cup contenders.
According to an article in the Guardian, Johnson described himself as “hugely disappointed for Danny,” and noted that the scrum-half “was on course for selection” prior to the injury.
Care (within two hours of posting a favourable review of The Inbetweeners movie) took to Twitter to confirm the news.
