Jockey Campbell Gillies dies in holiday accident

The 21-year-old Scot lost his life while in Greece with friends.

JOCKEY CAMPBELL GILLIES has lost his life while on holiday in Greece.

The 21-year-old, who only two months ago was celebrating a win on board Brindisi Breeze in the Albert Barlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, died in a swimming pool accident in the resort of Kavos in Corfu.

Gillies had ridden four winners this season and was enjoying a getaway with fellow jockeys Henry Brooke, Nathan Moscrop and Harry Haynes when tragedy struck.

His brother, Finlay, is a professional rugby player with Glasgow Warriors.
