Bullish Luis Suarez brushes off diving jibes

“They can keep talking and in the meantime I will keep on playing football and taking care of my team and what I do.”

LIVERPOOL STRIKER Luis Suarez insists that he is unconcerned by his portrayal as a diver.

The Uruguay international was criticised heavily by Stoke City boss Tony Pulis following their goalless draw at Anfield, the 54-year-old calling for a retrospective ban for Suarez after an apparent act of simulation during the game.

Fifa vice-president Jim Boyce has since added to condemnation of the Reds striker, asking the Football Association to take action on an issue which he sees as ‘a cancer within the game’.

Suarez, however, told Ovacion: “Everyone should focus on their own team. Those who want to talk can do so, I am not worried about what they say. They can keep talking and in the meantime I will keep on playing football and taking care of my team and what I do. Nothing else matters.”

Brendan Rodgers has publicly defended his much-criticised forward in light of these fresh claims of diving and the 26-year-old, who is currently on international duty, said that the Northern Irishman’s comments are all that matters.

“The support of the coach is very important to me and that’s what I really care about,” he concluded.

    • Another classy fella there Jason using a Munich reference. There were plenty of articles, and rightly so, floating about condemning Ashley Young about 6 months ago when he was at it that bit too regularly, the same is now applying to Suarez and the only way he will shake it off is by stating on his feet, not by scousers having one of their legendary winges.

    • Where’s the Munich reference Joseph? manure is it? maybe its a Munich reference in your eyes but not mine, sure you were calling Liverpool fans bin dippers on another article this week so don’t be talking rubbish about class. Welbeck dived a couple of weeks ago and got an penalty as usual, where was Jim Boyce and the others then i bet there is no articles on here about it either. the sooner Suarez gets a ban for diving the better it might knock some sense into him, most Liverpool fans want him to stay on his feet and don’t need united fans to tell them that. Im really hoping an England player dives against San Marino tonight to see what the craic will be like..

    • hahaha not a Munich reference, what a joke!! how can a term of reference to Manchester United that originated from truly horrific song that described a young man who died on the plane as manure rotting in his grave ever be anything other than a Munich reference? yes perhaps dippers isn’t the nicest reference in the world but it hardly has its origins in mocking a human tragedy in quite the same way and if Liverpool fans had a similar reference to us i’d not find it that offensive and for the record I know and a friends with a large number of Liverpool fans from the city itself and none of them would ever refer to us as manure regardless of the situation. It’s funny that you also choose to ignore my point about Ashley Young and the press coverage he got earlier in the year, is that perhaps because it doesn’t suit your agenda? If Suarez stays on his feet or goes down under contact without dramatic emphasis he will start to get penalties, if he keeps doing pikes and swan dives he won’t, it’s his bed he has to lie in it. As for Welbeck, I assume you are referring to the Wigan incident? Perhaps he went down under minimal contact, but if my keeper had made such a headless and rash decision to come that far out of his goal at minimal risk and go sliding in knee first at a player that was always going to win the ball first then I would have no complaints at a penalty being given against my team.
