STEVE BRUCE’S SUNDERLAND career is in serious doubt, after bookmakers stopped taking bets on his future at the club.
The Geordie boss received widespread criticism in the wake of his side’s loss to Wigan on Saturday.
And asked if he believed he could repair his relationship with the increasingly hostile Sunderland crowd, Bruce told reporters:
“I don’t know. It’s going to be very, very difficult. I would never walk away, never. But If I thought that by going it would help everybody then I would consider it, I’d certainly have a think about it. I don’t think that at the minute, though.”
The ex-Wigan and Birminham boss has been taunted by supporters in recent matches, with some chanting :”You fat Geordie bastard, get out of our club.”
Meanwhile, Bruce has responded to these taunts by saying he “cannot help where I was born”.
Sunderland face a crucial away fixture against fellow strugglers Wolves on Sunday, before hosting Blackburn a week later.
