Bring it on: Messi would be 'happy' to see Aguero at Real Madrid

The 23-year-old’s father-in-law Diego Maradona recently claimed the striker must play for Madrid one day.

BARCELONA STAR LIONEL Messi said he would be happy for his friend Sergio Aguero if he joined bitter rivals Real Madrid in the future.

Aguero left Atletico Madrid last summer to join Manchester City but was heavily linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu before he moved to the Premier League. The 23-year-old’s father-in-law Diego Maradona recently claimed the striker must play for Madrid one day and Messi, an international team-mate of Aguero, has backed a potential move.

“If he goes to Real Madrid I am sure it will give him much joy. If it’s the best thing for him, I will be very happy, because of our friendship,” Messi told Radio 9. ”I get along very well with Kun off the field and we play well together. However in the (Argentina) squad there are very good strikers so we must seize our chance.”

Messi also had a few words to say on the World Cup in 2014 which is to be held in Brazil, one of the few tournaments the attacker is yet to win.

“I want to be celebrating the title (World Cup). It’s all I want although there is a lot of time still to work and grow,” he said. Messi missed his side’s 3-1 victory over Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Saturday through suspension.
