LIVERPOOL MANAGER Brendan Rodgers says no more major signings are in the pipeline, insisting that Daniel Sturridge was their main target.

The club are reportedly investigating the possibility of bringing Inter play-maker Wesley Sneijder to Anfield and are attempting to put together a financial package to sign the 28-year-old. However, Rodgers says that he is not confident at this stage of the club pulling off the deal, telling reporters: “I can’t see it happening.

“You could probably rattle off about 20 names and the answer would be the same. The club have been linked with a whole host of players but I couldn’t see that happening,” he said. “We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks. Daniel was our main priority and we’ll have to see what else is available.

“There’s no doubt we need to support the group. We had 20 players training this morning, of which some of those are our younger players, so we know we need to reinforce and top up the group. That’s something we’ll look to do. If we can do it, then great and if not, then we’ll wait until the summer.”

Seriously? Southampton sack Nigel Adkins, appoint Mauricio Pochettino as new manager

  • Pool have a lot of good players, but not great players! Sturridge is decent but if Liverpool want to be back where they belong they are going to have to start investing properly!

  • Brendan, Brendan, Brendan !!!! As a Liverpool fan I am sick to death of this spoofer and the fact that he is but a puppet for Henry & Co. LFC are where they belong due to mismanagement and a total lack of foresight. No money and no future. And it’s time Liverpool fans wake up and face up to the reality instead of always harking back to successes of yesteryear. Daniel Sturridge will prove to be a flop in the same way as Carroll. How could a bit part player be the sum of your ambition to rebuild and develop. A total farce and shambles of a club.

    • It’s not as bad as that David.
I agree that we’re being fed a lot of bs about waiting until the summer but there are a number of young players with great futures at anfield. Sturridge averages a goal every two games which is a lot better than andy Carroll.
I’m not sure about rogers or the owners either but like I keep saying on here attracting the top players that united, city and chelsea do is impossible because they’ll always outbid us. Even arsenal who have been in the champions league the last ten years can’t keep their best players. Van persie being the latest. The only way to beat them is spend half a billion to win the league and personally I’d rather not do it at all than do it like that.
The club will be challenging for fourth again soon enough but until proper financial constraints are put in place winning the league will be impossible.
