WE’VE ALL SEEN those free-kick specialists who are relentless in their quest to find new ways of finding the net.
One sneaky approach has been to fire a shot low under the defensive wall, especially when close to goal.
So, Brazilian side Ponte Preta have come up with a new strategy to prevent that from happening.
During their Copa do Brasil clash with Parana on Tuesday night, they conceded a set-piece right on the edge of the area.
To combat a low strike, they got one of their players to lay on his side, behind the wall.
Impressive.
But, Parana’s Lucio Flavio wasn’t put off too much. He curled a wonderful strike over the wall and straight to the top corner.
Ponte Preta did manage to get through the tie – winning 8-7 in a shootout.
