CROKE PARK CHIEFS have reportedly dealt severely with Tyrone club Derrytresk after their recent brawl with Kerry outfit Dromid Pearses.
Players and supporters clashed during the teamsโ All-Ireland Junior Club semi-final at Portlaoise on 22 January.
Reports tonight suggest the Ulster side will now have to plan for their Croke Park decider on Sunday week against Clonbur of Galway without eight of the starting 15 who lined out in the semi-final have been banned.
Teamtalkmag.com reports the club have been fined โฌ5000 by the CCCC while the Kingdom outfit have had three players suspended and a fine of โฌ2,000 imposed.
Dromidโs Denis OโSullivan was the only player shown a red card in a game which Derrytresk won 1-10 to 0-7. Club officials from both clubs met with GAA officials in Portlaoise on Monday evening and, it is understood, players were told of the bans tonight.
No representative from Derrytresk was immediately available for comment though both clubs held emergency meetings earlier, according to the Irish Times and a response is expected tomorrow.
There has been no official confirmation from the GAA.
The clubs can request a hearing from the Central Hearings Committee or take their arguements to the Central Appeals Committee.
Limp?
@Padraig Chambers: my thoughts exactly,
@Padraig Chambers: Editor correction submitted for โat a canterโ.
@Padraig Chambers: pretty sure he meant โstrollโ
@Padraig Chambers: now we know that Gary Doyle is not a Liverpool supporter! Surely โsweep all before them as they advance towardsโ
@Padraig Chambers: limpโฆif Liverpool are limping what are the rest of them doing 20 plus points behind lol Two wins away from the record win time and if season is ended early with current positions deemed final the trophy will still be awarded to them so lovely. Man united fans only praying it wonโt. Sad prayers is all they have left.
@Padraig Chambers: ya limp, u started ty he season off like a Lamborghini, and since Christmas ur playing like a 1990โฒs clapped out lada.
@Karl Mc Cauley: this references limping to the league title. Liverpool have the best record of any team in the league since Christmas. Some lada.
@Padraig Chambers: 25 points ahead 1 loss and 1 draw in the league and itโs a limpโฆif we 15 points ahead would it be a photo finish. itโs hardly Kevin Spacey in the Usual Suspects we are talking about hereโฆ
Liverpool limp to the title ??? The biggest landslide win in football history โฆ. Embarrassing from the editor to be fair
@David OโNeill: Obviously a manc.
@David OโNeill: They looked a bit โLIMPYโ last night alrightโฆ
@David OโNeill: certainly triggered you lot anyway:)
@Seoirse ร Staighe: They should have won the game in the 90 loads of chances it happensโฆ..keeper was a disaster waiting to happen last night unfortunately.
@Paul Furey: Iโm not a pool fan
Limping to the league title with one loss and one draw all season. Thatโs some limp.
Thatโs some limpโฆ currently standing top with a 25 point lead!
Only thing is to call off the season and just move onโฆcall it null and voidโฆ The risk to public health is more important than some foose ball game.
@Craig Clancy: What part of played behind closed doors and spreading do you not understand?
@Craig Clancy: Obviously a Man U/C fan?? desperate times!!
@Craig Clancy: what a ridiculous commentโฆ I am a Man Utd supporter and the fact is if the rest of the matches are called off, the title is still liverpoolโsโฆ 2 thirds of the season is overโฆ
If players get ill of Coronovirus then Iโm all for the cancellation of the rest of the season but Liverpool get the title because they deserve it..
@Peter Hughes: the part where hundreds of players, staff, groundsmen, tv crews and medical personnel are still required to be there. Or do you not understand?
@Craig Clancy:
@De Rossi: brilliantโฆ. May catch a few fish
@Dave Harris: imagine actually pretending you cared
@Dave Harris: So you want to close down the country you mean and not just people working/playing at the stadiums?โฆ..you comment lacks intelligent details unfortunately.
@De Rossi: r/whoosh
Absolute disaster for Liverpool.
No fans there when they win the league, a huge anti climax.
@Robb Stark: canโt be worse than the league being cancelled and thatโs not gonna stop a mass gathering of fans outside Anfield
@Robb Stark: Insert Man city joke here
@Robb Stark: pretty sure most fans wonโt care how he lifts the trophy once itโs being lifted
@Robb Stark: if all is well Liverpool can lift that Title at the start of the next season โฆ
Always look on the bright side of life..
@Robb Stark: and even in that, nestling further onto that perch. Silver linings and all that.
Funny how people pick up on the limp element of this story, which to be fair was strange..it will be horrendous for lower paid staff and bars / hospitality industry who rely on the income..
@Shaun Kent: agreed but Health > wealth
@Shaun Kent: ah man, if empathy from Journal comments did anything, Iโm sure we would have rallied to their cause.
The football clubs (businesses) should compensate these people in some form.
Romp to the title more like.
Even from behind closed doors , once Leeds finally get over the line happy days.
@sean de paore: youโre right โ Liverpool winning, Leeds winning, global recession and being stuck on this island โ itโs the 80s again!
This will really hit the pockets of clubs outside the prem league
@Brian Les: Theyโll have to adjust.
@Ed: Same way you would have to adjust if your wages stop and you start missing direct debits? Not that simple
@Brendan Byrne: not the same way at all.
That worked well last night for the PSG game last night when there was thousands of fans outside the stadium
@Brian Nevin: exactly. Can still see football being suspended
@Brian Dunne: not a chance. Thereโs too much money involved. Tv rights. Promotions. Relegations. Cups. Advertising. Not a chance.
@Dermot Foley: weโll see i suppose.
It will suit Man Utd , no atmosphere inside Old Trafford with years
@Rรญain HenC: atmosphere has actually improved at ot the last few years. Not like liverpool for 90 per cent of games, ynwa for 5 mins at the start and 5 mins at the end.
@Brian Dunne: #prawnsandwiches and even if the atmosphere has improved as you say , it must hurt to have nothing to shout about
@Rรญain HenC: ynwa yawn
@Rรญain HenC: you obviously do not go to old traffordโฆ.
I donโt think Garry knows what the word โlimpโ means!! Sporting headlines if written by Garry Doyle:
Usain Bolts limps to 100m glory in Beijing
Tiger Woods limps to 12 stroke victory at Augusta
Rafa Nadal limps to yet another French Open title in straight sets win
The wheels are coming off the scouse wagon.
Probably the right thing to do but very harsh on fans
@flaming mo: So harsh. How will they break this news to their families??
I Blame Margaret Thatcher on all this
@Noel Donohue: I blame the Sun
These doubtโs about Cheltenham are about two weeks too late.
How come matches can be played behind closed doors but Cheltenham has to be postponed?
@Paul O Connor: quite simple the dollars that change hands at Cheltenham
Thatโs going to make the goal scoring celebrations a bit Gik isnโt it?
Will be strange no one will be there to celebrate league win, just an empty stadium
Will be huge advantage to Utd in the race for 5th, I mean theyโve been playing in an empty stadium from the 80th min onwards for the last 10 years..
At least Liverpool will receive their first premiership trophy in an empty stadium!
@Fergal OโHagan: premiership stopped years ago . Itโs the premier league now. You know how united fans love a name change .
Absolute re/@rd , personally dont care how many people are there or not there . Itll still show that they won it on the record.
Your s@d f&ck when with everything thatโs going on in the world thatโs your main concern. Its brilliant to see how liverpoolโs success has got into your tiny little brain.
@Peter Govan: you ok hun?!
Point 4 and 5, pure British politics, stream free into homes to avoid large crowds in pubs then next point is season ticket holders to get free streams into homes.
I understand its a mess and the best thing to do is everything behind closed doors but has anyone proof read this.
First World problemsโฆ..
@Peter O Donnell: Yea, itโs not very clear. I think points 3 and 4 are connected. Stop pubs showing games and to compensate make the scheduled TV games free to air. Point 5. Season ticket holders get access to ALL their teams games via streaming.
Limp? Your brain is limp gob $hite
Wouldnโt fancy trying to get a seat in a pub in Cheltenham tomorrow if itโs a closed door affair !
Massive blow to pubs if they pull live matches, draconian measures
