Jason Byrne nearly worked some late, late magic for Bohs again

Bohs missed a chance to close the gap on the top three this evening.

JASON BYRNE MISSED a late chance to snatch all three points as Bohs and Bray Wanderers played out a scoreless draw in Dalymount Park.

The match-winner on so many previous occasions, Byrne’s header two minutes from time was saved by Bray keeper Stephen McGuinness.

Looking to bounce back from their defeat to Galway last weekend, Bohs were dealt an early blow when Derek Pender was stretchered off injured after just 12 minutes.

And there was further injury woe when Pender’s replacement, Anto Murphy, was stretchered off himself just before the hour mark.

In a game short on clear-cut chances, Adam Evans nearly unlocked the visitors’ defence late with a well-judged cross but Byrne couldn’t find a way past McGuinness.

The veteran goal machine had one final chance for his 218th league goal but he shot over the Bray bar in stoppage time as Bohs missed the chance to close the gap on top three.
