Dundalk stay top of the table after Towell's 25-yard belter

Bohemians lost out 2-0 to the Lilywhites at Dalymount Park this evening.

DUNDALK REMAINED TWO points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table with a 2-0 win over Bohemians at Dalymount Park tonight.

The Lilywhites started strongly and Darren Meenan had a header cleared off the lines after five minutes. Just three minutes later, they took the lead through Daryl Horgan.

Meenan picked out the former Cork City winger and he turned in the box before firing past Delany.

The sides went into the half time interval with the score at 1-0 to the visitors but they doubled that advantage on 52 minutes.

Paddy Hoban found Richie Towell 25 yards out from goal and the midfielder curled an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

Stephen Kenny’s side had chances to increase their tally with Horgan hitting the post and John Mountney going close with a header but it ended 2-0.
