Late contender for worst open goal miss of 2013

JUST OVER A month after endearing himself to Irish football fans, Bogdan Sorin Stancu has missed one of the worst open goal chances of 2013.

The Romanian international, who scored against Greece in a World Cup playoff [thus ensuring Ireland were a second seed for the Euro 2016 qualifiers], was guilty of an appalling shank against Besiktas last night.

Stancu, playing for Genclerbirligi, blazed over from a yard out. Luckily for the forward, his team held onto their slim advantage to win 1-0.
