WITH IRELAND SET for Paris on Sunday, France’s 6 Nations hopes have taken a real blow today.
Full-back Maxime Medard has revealed that he faces up to nine months out of action with a serious knee ligament injury.
Medard went off in the second half of Les Bleus’ 23-17 victory over Scotland last weekend and it was later found he suffered damaged cruciate and anterior ligaments.
“The operation is booked for Monday and my unavailability will be from six to nine months,” the 25-year-old Toulouse player wrote on Twitter.
New France coach Philippe Saint-Andre has already called in Clement Poitrenaud to deputise at full-back for this weekend’s rearranged clash with Ireland in Paris.
