Big Buck's retires after coming up short in Cheltenham World Hurdle

The 11-year-old finished out of the places in his bid to win a remarkable fifth World Hurdle.

BIG BUCKโ€™S, PAUL Nichollsโ€™ star staying hurdler, has been retired from racing after he finished fifth in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham.

โ€œWeโ€™re delighted he has come back in one piece and Andy and I have just decided that heโ€™s retiring,โ€ said trainer Paul Nicholls.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been talking about and weโ€™re not going to ask him to do any more. Heโ€™s been a legend.

โ€œHe didnโ€™t have the legs on him as before. He will now have an honourable retirement. Itโ€™s great to end of a good note and great for him to end in one piece.โ€

Ruby Walsh added: โ€œHe was a great horse and have a nice retirement. He will have a good home somewhere.โ€
