Gigantic Kiwi prop Tameifuna cited for pushing referee to the ground

The case will be heard tomorrow after the incident in last weekend’s ITM Cup action.

WAIKATO PROP BEN Tameifuna has been cited for pushing referee Glen Jackson during his side’s ITM Cup clash with North Harbour last weekend.

Tameifuna, who plays Super Rugby for the Chiefs, shoved former Saracens out-half Jackson to the turf as North Harbour hammered at Waikato’s tryline in the 72nd minute of the fixture.

The 134kg prop was sin binned moments later, although Jackson indicated that Tameifuna’s yellow card was for “playing the ball on the ground” at the ruck proceeding the 23-year-old’s push.

Citing Commissioner John Wootton has now cited Tameifuna for acting against the spirit of good sportsmanship, and the case will be heard tomorrow by Judicial Officer Chris Morris in a video conference.

Tameifuna has been cited under law 10.4 (m):

Acts contrary to good sportsmanship. A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure.
