BEN FLOWER FACES a minimum eight-match ban for his Super League Grand Final disgrace.
The Wigan prop has been charged with the RFL’s most serious disciplinary offence — Grade F: “violent and aggressive punching/punching an off-guard opponent” — and will face a tribunal on Tuesday.
Flower was sent off in the second minute of Saturday’s final following a brutal attack on Lance Hohaia which has drawn widespread condemnation. After flooring Hohaia with a punch, Flower followed the New Zealander to the ground and hit him again.
Hohaia, who later said that he has no recollection of the incidence but bears no grudge, was charged with a less severe Grade B offence for striking Flower initially.
BBC report that Greater Manchester Police are also looking into the incident but have received no public complaints.
Saint Helens won Saturday’s Grand Final 14-6.
