BBC left embarrassed by MOTD2 gaffe

The panel were shown discussing whether Paolo Di Canio would be given the Sunderland job an hour after his appointment was confirmed.

THE BBC WERE left red-faced on Sunday night, after the Match of the Day 2 panel discussed the possibility of Paolo Di Canio becoming the new Sunderland boss after he had been given the job.

Presenter Colin Murray was joined by Steven Reid and Robbie Savage and the trio discussed whether or not Di Canio would be taking over from the sacked Martin O’Neill.

This, however, was broadcast over an hour after news broke that Sunderland had appointed the controversial Italian.

The BBC were forced to issue a message before and after the show to say that it had been pre-recorded earlier on Sunday evening.
