Barton brands Ashley a ‘muppet,’ urges Newcastle director to take lie-detector test

The ex-Newcastle star has attacked his former club and made insulting remarks about its chairman.

It is not the first time Newcastle have taken offence to remarks made by Barton.

JOEY BARTON IS up to his usual tricks.

The QPR midfielder has decided to renew his war of words with ex-club Newcastle and in particular, managing director Derek Llambias and chairman Mike Ashley.

Barton, who left the club just before the closure of the transfer window, criticised Ashley and Llambias, tweeting: “If he’s worried now, him and his fat mate should be ******** it, if I decide to write a book. There’ll be no holding back on those 2 muppets.”

And Llambias responded angrily to Barton’s tweet, in particular condemning the timing of his latest rant:

“In a week when one of Newcastle United’s most beloved footballers passed away, it is disappointing that once again Joey Barton makes the headlines.”

Llambias also urged Barton to “concentrate on his football,” but the midfielder – rather unsurprisingly – responded with even more criticism, tweeting:

“Seen Llambas [sic] comments, he is crass and has no class. I’ll leave it for another day but if he wants to take a polygraph [lie-detector test] live on tv, lets do it… ‘Not only do I have insurmountable amounts of proof (texts etc) but also about 6 others players who will concur. Am ready when u r Derek…”

Llambias and Ashley are part of a long list of enemies that Barton has recently made in football, which also includes Gervinho, Karl Henry (or ‘Kelvin’ as he insists on calling him) and most bizarrely of all, Ed Miliband.

  • Whatever you think of Barton, he is a character though which is a refreshing break from the jamie redknapp clones that fill most teams these days. Interviews consist of the same regurgitated tripe “we was the better team” “we did it for the gaffer” “the boy’s a top, top player”, at least Barton actually speaks his mind and has a unique angle on things (whether you agree with his pinion is another matter). Very few characters left in the game these days. And he’s a fella that’ll always give 100% when he’s playing, despite being not the most techincally gifted.

In fairness though, Mike Ashley is an absolute gimp

  • It’s always a bad sign when a football player is better known for his comments rather than his football. What started off as twitter entertainment has turned into over opinionated drivel.

How can Joey Barton have such a high & pompous opinion of himself? He has something to say about everyone. This is a man that would most likely be in & out of prison on a regular basis if he wasn’t an overpaid footballer.
