6 good reasons to go to tonight's Dublin football final replay

Sunday’s game was a gem and now Ballymun and Vincent’s have to do it all again.

CHAMPIONS BALLYMUN KICKHAMS and St Vincent’s have to do it all again tonight after Sunday’s Dublin SFC final ended in a thrilling draw after extra-time.

If you’re in the capital, here are six very good reasons to get down to Parnell Park tonight. Throw-in is at 7.45pm.

Diarmuid Connolly

One of the stars of Dublin’s All-Ireland win this summer, Connolly has shown his importance to Vincent’s over the last two games. After hitting a brilliant 2-2 in the semi-final win over Ballyboden, he followed up by pointing a nerveless final free to deny Ballymun and force a replay for Vincent’s.

Tomas Quinn

Vincents’ main man from dead balls, “Mossy” added two from play to his four frees in Sunday’s drawn game. The week before against Ballyboden he revelled in his creative role, setting up goals for both Connolly and Ciaran Dorney. Even a missed penalty in the second half that day couldn’t spoil a brilliant performance.

Gavin Burke

While he might not get the same recognition as Connolly and Quinn — yet — Gavin Burke truly came of age on Sunday. The 2012 All-Ireland minor final winner kicked a remarkable six points from play and Ballymun will be keeping much closer tabs on him tonight.

Dean Rock

Rock cemented his place as a fan favourite with some brilliant second-half performances for the Dubs this summer and he has continued that form into the club championship. His deadeye from frees mean that any Vincent’s indiscipline will be punished. He is a slight doubt with a knee problem, according to manager Paul Curran, but if Rock is fit he plays — and he scores.

James McCarthy

At his most dangerous when turning defence into attack, McCarthy is just as comfortable in the Ballymun midfield as he is in the Dubs half-back line. Will battle all day alongside usual partner Davey Byrne.

Ted Furman

Full-forward Furman has the presence and the power to be a handful for any defence. Ask St Jude’s, who shipped four points to him in the semis — or the Vins lads who will consider it a job well done to have kept him to two on Sunday.

Poll: Who should be in the 2013 Allstar football full-forward line?

I wonder will it be as good as the Middleweight fight of Froch V Groves 2, which tool place in front of 80,000 people at Wembley. Not many people know that, Froch is very hesitant to mention it.

@Gareth: Super-Middleweight has the word Middleweight in it, so i stand by my comment haha to many branches of divisions these days all for the sake of 3 or 4 pounds.

@Cathal Scully: In the lower weight classes there’s 4/5 lb difference in some, my point about weight classes wasn’t directed specifically at Middleweight. Jesus, a man can put a smart comment up here without getting dogs abuse! Haha

I’m going for Canelo on points, or possibly a late stoppage. I believe he has superior boxing skills, he’s the younger man and he’s the better all round fighter.
