BOTH SLIGO ROVERS and St Patrick’s Athletic are both out of the Europa League after home defeats tonight.
After a scoreless first leg, Sligo Rovers ultimately lost 2-0 to Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava at The Showgrounds, despite an impressive start.
First-half strikes from Serhiy Zakarlyuka and Pavel Rebenok meant Paul Cook’s side would have too much to do.
Later in Tallaght, St Pat’s were defeated 3-1 by Karpaty Lviv. The tie was in doubt until late this afternoon as the FAI were forced to mediate a deal in the row between players and the club over bonus payments.
Though an 11th-hour agreement was reached, the Saints will now concentrate on domestic affairs as they exit European competition 5-1 on aggregate.
Evan McMillan had equalised for Pat’s on the night but the visitors pulled away with two more goals.
